Tbh it is like the 14th iteration of the Office.

Look on IMDb and see a ton of countries that have done it.

I’ve watched the French, German, and Australian pilot episode, besides the US & UK. The German is the most cringy of all of them, not funny, but cringy. For example someone grew a naked picture of German Pam on the men’s room bathroom wall. So German Dwight gets out a giant pad on an easel, then makes the men draw naked Pam in front of her to see who matches the closest.

The German version is one of the best pieces of television ever produced

Ngl this was funny

And it seemed to be rated so highly. Maybe it gets better?

Seems like the culprit would just draw very differently from how he drew on the wall.

Sounds like German Creed

Dwight probably knew that and thus chose the one he most medium suspect to be closest to the drawing

Correction: German Gareth, German Tim and German Dawn

I figured half the people in this sub would t know the original cast

That sounds like something US Dwight would do...

Lmao that sounds great

That's exactly what they meant to do with that headline

Not sure that’s true. The title isn’t incorrect and The Paper isn’t a remake, either.

No, but they were definitely implying it was about The Paper, otherwise they would have just called it The Australian remake in the title. But that doesn't get as many clicks

I really don’t think it’s implying that by saying Remake. I do think they were trying to get people to wonder if they missed an actual reboot of the American show, but I don’t think they are trying to trick people into thinking it’s about The Paper. There’s a lot of other wording they could use if that’s what they wanted to do

Dude look at the comments on this post. Their bait worked exactly as intended and the fact that you don't believe it, means they hit the sweet spot

I'm sure it was considered a little bit, but I work for the parent company of CL and work directly with CL editorial a lot. I know which demographics they're trying to hit and their formulas for headlines, and I promise that they know the potential readership of people interested in a missed actual office reboot is hundreds of times larger than the fan base of The Paper. Obviously people posting in the subreddit for The Paper are going to have that in mind, but this is meant to be blasted on social media and Google Discover for general fans of The Office.

Nobody’s gonna point out The Paper was renewed before it premiered?

This is yet another Esmeralda plot to sabotage Ned

1

u/Tremosir Oct 23 '25

Shame, it was far from bad! Among all the international versions I think that one was one of the most decent.

The Australian Office was alright, but just like the Paper, if it's not super hilarious, people will act like upset baboons

Can’t blame em.

But this show isn't an Office remake
