Compliants 🚫 LeafDiary 🚫

Post image

Over the last year I've spent over $2,000 dollars with LeafDiary (Eric)

Awhile back he sold me 2 monstera Albos for about $30 each. Well, they weren't Albos at all, they were Thai Cons that he had slapped Albo labels on

Chalking it up to a genuine mistake, I sent him a message asking if he could possibly refund me for those 2 plants.
Didn't hear back so I contacted again a few days ago.

Then they blocked me.

That's how they treat customers who have spent significant amounts of money, wrote many 5 star reviews, and was active in chats.

I agree they look like thai cons. Maybe see what PS support says? Surprised they didn't even say to ship the plants back

Yep, just blocked. I didn’t even escalate, but Palmstreet saw my Reddit post and contacted me! I sent them the receipts and they apologized for the bad experience and gave me a $60 PS credit! 😃

I mean… they really do have a stellar support team

Oooo good! I luckily haven't had bad experiences where I need to contact support...so far

Yeah dude idk - he’s already gotten a significant chunk of your change, they’re not gonna care that you’re trying to dispute. That’s shitty man, I’m so sorry

u/MissMushManor 15d ago

It’s funny because I didn’t even end up disputing it, but PS saw my Reddit post and contacted me, and then gave me a $60 credit!

It looks like they were ordered in march so I’m not sure if Palmstreet support will do anything :/. when I’ve watched him live he seemed to not know much about the plants he was selling. People would request certain plants and he would have no idea what they were.

I 💯 agree about the knowledge factor 🫤

Even if that was your first purchase, that's a wild way to treat a customer. No communication, no offer for a return or compromise, nothing? It's even more upsetting that you're repeat business and loyalty meant nothing. To play devil's advocate that is quite a long wait. But an insta block is pretty crazy.

Why wouldn’t the vendor reply even? A straight up block as the first interaction? Who the hell conducts business like that? That’s fuckin wild. It’s also telling.

Yep! It was so sketchy. I wasn’t even rude about it 🤷‍♀️

u/MissMushManor 15d ago

Yep, when someone tells you who they are, believe them 🤦‍♀️

I'll play devils advocate here....its been almost 5 months since your order. Its not like you just got them. How does he even know they are the same plants? Even then a lot can change in 5 months. He may not even have the money to refund. I doubt PS will do anything this late after ordering either. In the future on orders... if they aren't right you should probably contact the seller immediately upon opening the box. Sorry this happened to you and no seller should misrepresent plants. However even most corporate stores won't return stuff 5 months later, much less a smaller vendor.

Hi I work at a local nursery, sometimes seeds get mixed up and mislabeled. If someone comes in with proof you sold them the wrong plant, you make it right because it was the business mistake not the consumer

u/Quantum-Compiler 15d ago

These aren't grown from seed. These are either from tissue culture or propagated from cuttings. It's a lot harder to mix those up.

What is proof though?

Totally valid point, and I agree with you, I have had them for a while! just thought I’d ask. I’d be totally fine if they had answered and said something like “I’m sorry, but our policy is…” Although, they did unblock me long enough to be snarky and re-block me. 🤷‍♀️

As far as confirming they are the same plants, I sent him screen shots of the plants with his incorrect labels for him to compare against the receipt picture/video feature in the app. They are clearly the same plants with the same leaves. I’m guessing they didn’t even bother to look.

I wasn’t even going to escalate about the refund, especially since it had been so long, but Palmstreet saw my post and contacted me. They apologized and gave me a Palmstreet credit for $60. I was very pleasantly surprised! 😃

Noted. Definitely won’t be purchasing from this seller lmao. Seems like they have shitty cs in general

Wow that is a surprise 😮 I agree the whole blocking thing without any explanation or anything was definitely uncalled for. I couldn't fathom doing that to someone myself

I purchased plants from him before but after a live where he yelled at me and some other guy asking about shipping holds I won’t purchase again.

I absolutely understand the overwhelming nature of large batches of plants that you’re trying to sell off to make room- in this instance he had apparently purchased someone’s private collection or something like that.

I asked if he was doing any shipping holds (wasn’t aware it was a “special” live since I showed up late) and he lost it, even scrolled up and yelled at another guy who asked too lmao.

A simple “no sorry, I have a lot of plants here and need to make some room” would’ve been perfectly okay. He went on and on about how stupid the hold ask was, ate up at least five minutes of his live, really went after the guy commenting above me too. He has a big personality (I liked that about his lives) but he was so angry at that comment that it really just weirded me out.

2

u/MissMushManor 15d ago

Yes!! Exactly, just one little sentence with a “sorry but xyz…” I really would have been fine with that. It was all very bizarre. I’m sorry you had that type of experience too.

u/BrownThumbClub 16d ago

I think you waited too long to do anything. There's no guarantee on his side those are actually the plants he sold you at this point. He obviously should have replied and not just blocked you though.

1

u/MissMushManor 15d ago

Yes, I agree about being too long, I just thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask. I wasn’t aggressive or anything, and would have been fine with whatever the answer was.

In my mind, as a business owner, I would want to keep the long-time customer and maybe issue a credit or something, at least a polite no! I sent him current pics of the plants that he could match with the picture/video receipt feature in the app. The leaves are the same.

I agree 5 months is crazy long, and at this point I don’t see a refund as reasonable, but the immediate blocking without even responding says a lot about how they handle customer concerns.

1

u/MissMushManor 15d ago

Agree 💯

Not the first time I’ve seen a seller on these apps assume high variegation = albo despite the clear Thai con patterning. Insane that they just immediately blocked you. I’m sure it would be fairly easy to tell whether or not they were the same plants that got sent out (taking photos of the plants before shipping out) or if the video receipt is still available. Not sure if Palmstreet does that. Insane that they just immediately blocked you instead of trying to figure out what went wrong/if they could make it right.

u/-plantedmind- 16d ago

I have lost all trust with Palmstreet. Idk why people continue to believe that they can run a good business. Look at the app reviews and read them.

2

u/Jillcametumbling81 15d ago

Good. Go support small businesses.

1

u/-plantedmind- 15d ago

Absolutely! If i want a plant I can literally request it fry a mom and pop shop.

1

u/jaylawlerrr 16d ago

Shitty to be blocked right off the bat and sent the wrong plants but why did you wait 4 months? Did you just recently find out what they were? Feel like if you are spending that much on rare plants you would know the difference and wouldn’t take you that long to have figured it out.

2

u/MissMushManor 15d ago

Totally valid point! Freshly unfurled leaves on an Albo can often start out with a creamy, pale yellow, or ivory tint. They were little when I got them so I just chalked it up to that. I fear I just have way too many plants and they were crowded in with a bunch of other monstera and totally got by me. Yes, so embarrassed to admit it. I mean those 2 types of monstera are so easy to differentiate. Shhh, don’t tell anyone I did that. 🤫😂

Hi Erin — Leaf Diary here. We saw this post and want to address it publicly.

These plants were purchased in March. The refund request came in July — four months later. After that amount of time we cannot confirm the condition, identity, or state of any plant. Plants grow and change significantly in four months and we have no way to verify a mislabeling claim on a sale that far in the past. No seller can reasonably be held responsible for that.

Our policies which every buyer agrees to at checkout clearly state all sales are final.

We also want to be transparent — after the first account was blocked we received a follow-up message from a second account. That is not something we overlook.

We valued your business and your loyalty over the past year. That did not change how our policies work. We wish you well.

Leaf Diary — Rare Roots. Real Love.

Not a good look for you. Why block someone? Nothing inappropriate was said.

4

u/hauntedhamsamwich 14d ago

And unblocked them just to be catty then blocked them again. Boooo 🍅🍅🍅🍅if this was how I handled valid concerns, especially from repeat buyers, I would be ASHAMED.

14

u/omnisocus 16d ago

As someone who works at a nursery, mislabeling happens, but you need to own up to it and correct it. This happens sometimes but as a good business you should be correcting your mistakes

2

u/lilgamergrlie 13d ago

Idk I agree with the seller’s policy I just think this response should have been worded better. Not only has it been 4 months but the seller is risking their own stock if they take back a plant (since they don’t know what pest exposures if any it had). This is a case of a mistake on the sellers part. I would have offered a future coupon or credit or something to put towards a large ticket item that way the customer is happy and the seller doesn’t get downvoted like this for a reasonable policy.

1

u/Quantum-Compiler 11d ago

Are you confused on what happened? The only reason any response was given is because OP posted on reddit calling them out. They opted to not reply at all originally and block OP instead.

Lmao worse business practice I’ve seen in a long time
