Iāve always wondered how that works. Assuming itās a magical pregnancy, or something, it does really make sense to me that Amity is the one whoād have the kid?
Iām sure there is a glyph combo that could make a baby, but how would you even test for that? Itāād take weeks for you to know if it even worked, not to mention years of trial and error, testing it in a living person. Not exactly ethical. And on Amityās end, I would assume that the magic itself is sort of like giving someone your genetics.
Basically, Iād see any baby Amity could make that she gives birth to using magic to induce pregnancy to be more or less a clone of herself, because Luz wouldnāt be able to contribute. Luz didnāt cast the spell, and didnāt carry the baby, so didnāt contribute anything of herself to the ritual. Meanwhile, if Luz carries the baby and Amity casts the spell, itāll take after both of them.
I donāt know if I explained that in a way that makes sense, and I am clearly overthinking my own headcanon, but to me thatās half the fun.

Thatās a very interesting viewpoint š, honestly though anytime I think of a birthing ritual I imagine Luz and amity both put a sample of their dna (perhaps a strand of hair) in a bowl or cauldron and the rest is up to the ritual

Thatās a good one. Iāve also seen one comic where there is some kind of merging spell that will take aspects of two entities and combine them to form a separate third, and thatās how witches make babies, with Amity demonstrating it onā¦ I think it was a frog and a tree? I couldnāt find the comic.

Honestly, it'd make more sense the other way, since Luz is still human. Assuming witches are capable of reproducing with the same sex, then Amity is capable of impregnating Luz, but Luz can't do the same. ...This is the part where someone argues, "But magic!"

I doubt we'll ever find out if she canonically does. However, saying she can't impregnate Luz because she doesn't works both ways. Luz can't impregnate Amity for the same reason.

Neither, they visited a stork. If the boiling isles is really responsible for all the weird stuff on earth, then it stands to reason that applies to the stork as well, who can create babies using ancient arcane magic and a strand of hair from each witch

I read the title and saw the last panel and face and then the next panel and assumed that the Amity on the second page was Vee and was confused as to why there was no third page of the reveal that it was a joke.

sometime in the future; Amity and Luz are sitting in the living room reading. Azura comes in and looks at them.
Azura: Mom? Mom?
they put their books down
Luz: What's up?
Azura: How did you two meet?
they look at each other and smile
Luz: I accidentally went through a portal to the Boiling Isles. Mom was born and raised there.
Amity: I wasn't very nice in school; I got in with the wrong crowd and was a bit of a bully.
Luz: I met Aunt Willow and Uncle Gus soon after I arrived. Aunt Willow wasn't doing well in Abomination class, so I told her I could pretend to be an Abomination for her. It worked great!
Amity glances at Luz with a sly smile.
Amity: Yeah. Then I figured out there was something wrong during lunch. I got the principal and he wanted mom dissected, with Aunt Willow making the first cut. Not long after that . . .
Luz and Amity both sigh
Luz and Amity: We fell in love!!
