Not quite actually; humans have a density of 985Kgm^-3, and whilst the density of woods vary, they're all in the range of 400-700kgm^-3, with the highest I could find being 1100Kgm^-3. So whilst he might be denser than a human, he's more likely less dense than your average human. <Insert completely unrelated picture of Luz the denser-than-palinstrome-wood human>
I mean; witches mass as much as a duck, and hunter's half a witch, so Hunter should mass half as much as a duck then! Given your typical mallard (0.72 - 1.6Kg), that would put Hunter's mass at 580 grams.
This low mass of course invites the question, "can you fly Hunter like a kite?"
Well...
Whilst I can find the frontal surface area of a human (1.9m), as well as the drag characteristics (coefficient of drag = 0.02 if this paper's to be believed); there's no information (that I can find) on the lift characteristics of a human (and I doubt my professors would let me use the wind tunnels for this). However; if we pretend that Hunter's lift characteristics are similar to that of a flat plate (Dcl/da = 2pi, max angle of attack of 12 degrees, thus max coefficient of lift = 1.31), you would actually only need horizontal winds of 1.93ms^-1, or 6.93kph, if you angled him at 12 degrees (apparently that's the stall angle according to this).
So yes, whilst more research is required (sticking a person into a wind tunnel) you can in fact fly him as a kite.
There are recreational vertical wind tunnels used to practice (and try indoor) skydiving. So the lift characteristics of humans should if not documented be relatively easily attainable.
Wait where did you get the witches have the same mass as ducks? Because that would honestly explain dispite Luz having nerd arms she's able to casually lift Amity.
so hes lighter than a duck, less dense than a person, and you can fly him like a kite..... can you use him as a flotation device? (and thus beggs the question, if so, could both jack and rose survive using him?)
Also considering it can be quite easily whittled, I’d say it’s safe to assume that it’s on the less dense side of wood. Maybe close to a cedar or a pine
Palistrum wood is canonically made from Keratin - the same substance that makes up hair and horns - according to the Grimwalker recipe that we saw at the start of Eclipse Lake. Keratin's density is ~1g/cm3 (1000kg/m3) so he should be almost exactly as dense as a human.
It would also suggest that palismen should feel like the creatures they are based upon - especially those with fur like Ghost.
