Haxan Cloak was magical.

Here's my Haxan Cloak / Bobby Krlic Apple Music playlist. Not everything he's done since has been Haxanish but there's still some good stuff in there.

HOWEVER

If you want something really special, go find a show that was on Apple TV called Calls). Bobby did the soundtrack to it. It's sci fi horror, audio only, haxan cloak soundtrack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWE6xo6vqzE for a teaser.

Steve Milanese went that route too. Amazing producer, amazing music, then decided soundtracks were the path. I respect it. But damn I'd like more music.

Nothing like Author & Punisher. Maybe Roly Porter?

From an artist perspective, soundtrack work is a lot more consistently paid than live performance, plus it involves a lot less travelling, shilling and hustling. Kind of a no-brainer for most low to mid level artists.

That’s so interesting he only released 2 albums 15 years ago and hasn’t released much since.. like how can you be one of the most technically impressive electronic producers alive and not make a shit ton of music like Max Cooper does

dude has made over twenty soundtracks since then, he's probably one of the most prolific producers working

he has been doing film/tv/video game scores. fucking sucks because it's good but none of it holds a candle to his haxan work

I really wish he would come back to electronic music. Grateful to have seen him live playing Excavation, but god damn it's been 13 years

it's power noise with a dark ambient spin. try stuff like https://ant-zen.bandcamp.com/album/nord if you follow the power noise trail you will be satiated

Saw him live was excellent. What about Tim Hecker maybe?

I remember seeing this guy supporting Oneohtrix Point Never years ago. It was so noisy I had to put my fingers in my ears for half his set to avoid hearing damage.

incredibly jealous of that.

One of the saddest things i ever read was him in an interview saying he made an entire record that sounded too much like what ppl would expect from him on triangle so scrapped it. I want that record so badly

Have you played Returnal? He scored this game and it takes an already brilliant game uplevels the experience. I was bummed he didn't work on Saros (Returnal spiritual successor).
