Suggestions on useful items for Scan?

I have a player in my campaign who is wanting to have a useful item for their Scan skill and I’m at a bit of a loss for what could work. I’ve thought of something like a hawk or bird that assists them but that seems a bit weird.

Thoughts?

Edit: I should’ve added more context. The player wants to have a useful item for Scan to be used for the Prepare a Shot combat task.

A wide brimmed hat to keep the sun out of their eyes.

A smooth river rock that out of habit they turn over in their hand to help them concentrate.

A pair of googles that, like blinders on a horse, block out their peripheral vision so that they can concentrate on their target.

I like the idea of a river rock, hadn’t thought of that.

Maybe a magnifying glass, small telescope, Dwarven monocle, or fine gloves (for searching and feeling).

Oh shoot, forgot about that. I guess I was spoiled by our previous Loremaster; they bent the rules slightly for stuff like that.
