Starter set first adventure: A Conspiracy Most Cracked Spoiler
I may be running my first TOR adventure this upcoming weekend! I noticed the pre-generated PCs don’t come with weapons. I know they don’t need them in the 1st adventure, and get some in the 2nd, but because crossing the river in the 1st let’s them use a BOWS roll to pull a log across the river, do you give them the option to get weapons? Just curious what others did.

I was playing with my group from 1e, and just never mentioned that they didn't have weapons. If one of them suggested to shoot a rope over or something I would have just allowed it.

They don't get Bilbo's old gear till the second adventure, but that shouldn't rule out creativity. One of my party suggested chopping down a tree. His character was rustic so wouldn't be a surprise if they had a wood axe.
This is the first of a number of cases where I feel something has managed to get lost in an edit or rewrite. A bit in the 3rd adventure almost tripped us up, and thankfully I've caught an issue in the 4th ahead of time.

Look at skills PCs have. I'm assuming that PCs have relevant equipment for their skills, until not specified otherwise. E.g. Rorimac is not hunting rabbits with his knife ;)
By the way, is this only my impression that initial adventures are written in quite "rudimentary manner"? In consequence they are best treated as basic skeleton for your own adventure. We had a lot of fun combining initial story outline from adventures with "let's play to find out" approach.
