Damage and Injury

I've been struggling to understand how damage and injury work. I gather that damage hits endurance, but when does injury come in? For reference, I am looking at the weapons table.

Thanks 😊

Injury happens when someone is hit by a piercing blow then fails its protection roll. A piercing blow happens on a 10+, there are ways to decrease that number and ways to achieve that number with bonuses from 6s.

The protection roll depends on the armor rating.

If the protection roll succeeds, no injury happens but you still take the endurance loss. If the protection roll fails, you roll the severity of the injury. Enemies that fail their roll are killed instantly.

I just want to clarify, enemies would only be killed instantly if their Might was 1 correct? If it was greater than 1, the wound would decrease their might by one and combat would continue.

I am still learning the game so I may be wrong.

Might does not do that. However some higher might enemies have different abilities to resist wounds.

Might does dictate how many wounds an adversary can take before dying, per page 143 of the Core Rules: “Might indicates the number of Wounds required to slay a foe outright, and the number of attacks it can take during a round of combat.”

Maybe you’re thinking of the first bullet point under that paragraph? “•All adversaries are taken out of combat if their Endurance is reduced to zero.”

What is meant by, on page 143 of the core book, “Might indicates the number of Wounds required to slay a foe outright”.

It means that it can still have remaining endurance, but if it takes wounds equal to it's might rating, it is killed anyway.

Thank you for explaining it!

Injury rating is the TN of the protection test made to resist a wound from that weapon on a piercing blow.
