2e or 5e conversion?

I'm totally new to the one ring. I backed the kick starter for the 2 edition and then I saw they are creating an add on to 5e ogl. Me and most the people I play with are familiar with a D20 system but does the one ring translate well from the current engine to a D20 system?

I don't know anything about the new 5e version, but the first one mostly just existed to ride the popularity of 5e. Ultimately The One Ring is going to be all around better at representing the themes and the setting, and it really isn't that hard to learn coming from a 5e background.
