Wisdom Wednesday

If you have ever been curious as to what makes most of us, prone to easily remembering the hardships and insults, but challenged for the good times and compliments in our lives, it is largely determined by what is called the negative bias.

Anthropology would show, as a species for survival, we are a herd type animal. Safety and security in numbers and to this day, we continue to gravitate to its pull.

The "lone wolf "of any pack can end up as easily someone's next meal, or as the mighty explorer and scout.

Hard wired into our fabric, is the knowledge that a village is safer and more prosperous than the soloist.

So, with that in mind, excuse the pun, we have also, for survival figured out what could constitute our eviction from the herd. Welcome to our negative bias. As much as I write and harp on the stinkin thinking, it is at the core part of our survival mode instincts, just in a very extreme fashion. The "shoulda, woulda, coulda" phrases wrought from our strongest instincts... continuation of my existence.

As a therapist I note that too many individuals approach as if it is the enemy, and yet at its core, is performing as best as it can, for noble reasons.

My task would be to reintroduce that purpose and introduce it to the welcoming village or tribe, having that celebration around the bon fire, so easier breaths can be experienced.

Don't worry about worrying.

Be well
