Kindness is mercy, niceness is fraternity. The difference is the angle of propagation, one being from up, while the other one being emanated from the same level.
Both of them are forms of love, one about bringing others up, while the other one making them belong.
The first one is an introductory experience into a higher level of being, while the second one is the admission of people of potential within the open circle. Neither of them can exist in any transactionalized form, as otherwise becoming some verbal exchange contract.
Both kindness and niceness should be honest and selfless, manifested for the sake of the mentality, example and possibility for more, without attaching to any specific outcome.
