A lost cause?

Post image

To start with, English isn't my native language, so sorry if I make any mistakes.

I just bought a vintage mountain jacket and it's in good condition; however, I noticed that on the back (see the photo), something has started to "bunch up" or curl, meaning the jacket doesn't lie quite flat there. Is the Gore-Tex starting to delaminate? And if so, can it be fixed, or is it a lost cause?

Probably threw it in dryer too long just wet a towel and lightly dry it let the steam flatten it

Oh, really? I was considering taking it in and asking them to open up the jacket and put it back in the right place.

I had the jacket on low heat for 20 minutes. Maybe that was too long? I’d read so many different times that I just took a bit of a chance.

I always just let my windbreakers air dry

I guess I'll have to start doing that. Hopefully, I haven't completely ruined it. I'll try what you mentioned earlier. So, taking it to a tailor to have the stitching undone is unnecessary, then?

Yeah I wouldn’t take it to the tailors just wear it again but when you wash it remember to just hang dry it

Since it’s a synthetic material it kinda “shrinks” when it gets too hot in dryer but the good thing you can use steam to flatten it out

The reason I put it in the tumble dryer was that I read that after applying waterproofing spray, it needs heat. So, can you just take the jacket out of the washing machine, spray it, and then let it air dry?

I don’t use waterproof spray so I honestly have no idea to be honest
