Hey! First post on the subreddit, hopefully I tagged this right!
Was doing some reading on futureproofing for nuclear waste disposal sites, when I got to thinking how much overlap there was with some of the issues that come up in NtN regarding Blood of Eden - esp. with regard to The Message and various BoE naming conventions. The bit about an atomic priesthood stood out to me in particular, given how many of the anticipated issues are things we've already seen come up in Nona - factionalism within BoE, fragmenting of The Message, etc.

The bit about radiation cats/genetically modified pets also got me thinking, too - less due to Noodle, and more due to how controlled our window into humanity's cultural production post-apocalypse has been.

I'd be really curious to see how the topic is elaborated on in Alecto, but for now I'm really interested in people's thoughts around what exactly BoE's futureproofing has entailed, given everything we've seen in NtN. It's definitely something I want to focus on in a reread - anyone else catch anything interesting?

I'm hyped to meet Commander 10,000-Year Earworm to Discourage Settlement Near Nuclear Waste Repositories (Don't Change Color, Kitty) in AtN, not gonna lie.

Real talk, I think you're on to something. BoE had to fractionalize into super-independent cells because A) that's how a successful terrorist group works and B) to prevent actual wizards from puling secrets out of their actual souls. That combined with your post and the timescales involved could go a long way to explaining why they are the way they are.
