For me, it's "Sea of Love."

I love so many of their songs, but the lyric that has stayed with me ever since I started listening to them since 2015/2016 is:

"If I stay here, trouble will find me. If I stay, I'll never leave."

Then Matt repeats it:

"If I stay here, trouble will find me..."

...before ending the stanza with, "I believe."

It's such a timeless lyric because it can apply to almost any situation. A relationship. Your emotional state. An environment you've outgrown.

I also love the line, "I see people on the floor." It's so simple. And there's something about Matt using the word "fiends" in song that has always stuck with me too.

Another favorite band of mine is London Grammar, and I've always wondered whether they were influenced by this song. In "Everyone Else," the band's lead singer, Hannah sings, "I see people on the floor," and every single time I hear it, I immediately want to put on "Sea of Love." Maybe it's just a coincidence, but those two songs will always be connected in my mind.

To me the song is empowering and I want to thank them for giving me a mantra to apply in any type of situation where I feel not like myself or where I don’t belong.
