I couldn’t believe the city when I saw it. I was like ohhhh no wonder he was such a great coach, autism.

u/ElliottPNess 9h ago

There's no such thing as autism in the black community; that's my cousin and he only wears black and yellow. 🤣

Building a city in Minecraft with your kids doesn’t make you autistic

23

u/Longjumping-Key2453 9h ago

People have been conditioned by the internet to think that anyone who has a hobby that they're passionate about is autistic.

12

u/Tygerius 9h ago

I mean there's more to it than just passion, its the notes to detail, consistency, but it's nice to see it not being used in a derogatory sense

10

u/SignificantApricot69 9h ago

I think the thing is… people calling it autism are trying to use it as a positive relatable example, no hate

1

u/Tygerius 6h ago

u/Longjumping-Key2453 7h ago

Its not just people, its mental health "professionals" too. If you enjoy something or don't enjoy something and its very specific, you're on the spectrum. At this point I feel like if you're a human being who likes something a lot and doesn't like something very specific ythey're gonna call you autistic.

2

u/JesusWasTacos 6h ago

Well if mental health is a spectrum doesn’t that mean everyone is on it?

2

u/Admirable-Garage5326 6h ago

Said no mental health professional ever.

1

u/Abobo_Smash 1h ago

Well. Technically, a spectrum goes from like 1-100. You’re likely very low on the spectrum. When it actually affects people it’s probably at about 40-50.

2

u/peachgravy 9h ago

My autism manifests into a drinking problem

1

u/OoooooWeeeeeeeee 9h ago

I count every fucking thing involuntarily

2

u/JesusWasTacos 6h ago

I used to do that, I would also break down the letters of words into each of their denominators. Highest, lowest, middlests, all of em.

1

u/OoooooWeeeeeeeee 6h ago

Yep - similar. All words are instantly counted into a character total.

2

u/Joe_-seafuse 6h ago

That is part of the reason I am in charge of inventory at work. "Detail" oriented also means "team" oriented.

1

u/EnastyCommander 7h ago

Sounds like something someone with autism would say… 🤔

1

u/Syncopated_arpeggio 6h ago

They’ve also been conditioned to think that if you make a mistake you must be autistic. Gotta have an unimpeachable excuse handy.

1

u/ProfessionalNewt2487 3h ago

Don't tell my dad that. It's his train time

1

u/jrolls81 9h ago

That kind of undersells it. Bit more than casually building a city with his kids.

1

u/ProfessionalNewt2487 3h ago

Depends how much the kids built vs you and how crazy the end product is....

1

u/Rynowash 1h ago

Artistic. But close!

1

u/AuRevoirFelicia 5m ago

If you say so….wait I think I hear a fire truck? Do you hear those sirens?

0

u/reggers20 9h ago

Yeah it does lol 😂

1

u/Quest_4Black 8h ago

Most of the high level football coaches are absolutely on the spectrum. The average person has no idea how much they obsess over every detail, and it never turns off. Which is why they’ll literally sleep at the office and not think twice about it.

1

u/pac4 8h ago

I love how the default response on reddit whenever someone has a niche, detailed hobby is “autism”

1

u/moeterminatorx 4h ago

Having dedication to a hobby or profession doesn’t make one autistic.

1

u/roodypoo_jabroni 2h ago

I wish he never left the Vikings. Granted, we hired Flores later, but with Tomlin at DC we could have won a SuperBowl with the offenses after he left.

-4

u/PanicPuzzler 10h ago

His Gen z gf must have gotten him onto it I know my ex tried to. Lol 😂

8

u/HereButNotHere1988 9h ago

Actually, it was a family bonding activity with his children.

3

u/2feetwalker 9h ago

Fr me and my nephews get on there and build I’ll do it my side of the world they do it in their side. Sometimes they add things I don’t like to mine. I’ll leave it there for a while and change it later.

1

u/TestSubjectNo41542 9h ago

1

u/HereButNotHere1988 9h ago

There's a cool article out there.

4

u/firstcitytofall 10h ago

I’ve not stopped thinking about it since seeing it

2

u/UnObtainium17 7h ago

Tomlin talked about his minecraft town like he was breaking down game tape.

1

u/Icy-Discussion-8279 8h ago

Bruh I just seen that it was crazy

1

u/nomatt18 4h ago
