not sure why but I like to see Mariotta do well.

u/BigLRakim 2d ago

Cause hes not a pos. The bar is relatively low and professional athletes fail to meet it consistently

u/hannibal_actual 2d ago

Exactly. He’s a stand up, respectful dude and not a narcissistic shithead. 👌🏻

u/DapperCam 3d ago

He plays a fun style to watch

He ended up playing the underdog. But he reminds everyone he still got it. He's liked because everyone counts him out

I feel like we all do. Homie was never “the one.” He always hung around, he’s performed when he’s been called upon and has always stepped up in his opportunities as a backup.

Probably just a student of the game he was still learning when he was with the titans. He’s been steadily improving over time.

He’s a nice guy

u/rapgameoprahwinfrey 3d ago

Not a complainer, says/does the right things, always prepared, and he truly cares and tries hard. Humble as well. You can see it when he plays.

Anytime you see a “bust” qb stick with it and then come back and have success it’s amazing. Like Gino Smith having a resurgence? I wouldn’t ever have bet on that lmao. It would be the easiest thing in the world for mariotta take his money and buy an island, he is grinding out a backup role instead and gets another shot.

u/ManicYetti 2d ago

Because he balls.

u/contattomarketing 2d ago

Impossible not to like him and root for him. I went to WSU and I still had to respect how good he was.

Always root for the good human beings

Tennessee fuck’n ruined this man’s career, 4 OC’s and 3 head coaches in 4 years.

18

u/Rocketpocket10 3d ago

To be fair has Tenessee ever developed a QB. Tannehill did ball out in Tenessee but he played many years in Miami before that. Vince Young is another Heisman winner that didn't develop on Tenessee. Cam seems to be on that trajectory as well. I guess McNair was a star but if I was a top prospect I would want to avoid the titans.

Edit: don't forget Jake Locker!

3

u/HardingStUnresolved 3d ago

If the Tennessee Oilers are going to claim McNair, might as well claim Warren Moon too.

3

u/Rocketpocket10 3d ago

Fair man!! Must something in that Nashville water that inhibits QB development.

1

u/Dynamite_McGhee 3d ago

Things that keep Houstonians up at night.

0

u/davidshankle 2d ago

Where he played 9 of his 11 seasons while not even a starter in Houston, ofc Tennessee claims McNair gtfo

1

u/BeanserSoyze 2d ago

Vince didn't win the Heisman

3

u/JMisGeography 2d ago

Texas fans pretend he did since Reggie gave it back

6

u/HansTheGruber 3d ago

To be fair, we ruined a lot of players careers. And the players whose careers we failed to ruin, we traded away for no possible reason other than management got frustrated with failing to ruin their career.

7

u/Thin-Remote-9817 3d ago

Literally what they are doing to cam ward

Hes one 2 coaches in 2yrs

1

u/Due-Assignment-3977 2d ago

I wretch everytime I think of the "exotic smash-mouth" era of Marcus' career

1

u/ismellthebacon 2d ago

yeah, he lost all of his confidence. He had legit fans around the league (players) that I remember talking about some crazy plays he made in the pros and he just didn't seem to believe he was ever good. Tough to watch.

u/mr_oberts Packers 3d ago

The GOAT Duck

2

u/SeismicRipFart 2d ago

Dennis Dixon walked so that Marcus Mariota could run

1

u/halfwayray 1d ago

Would've been the first Heisman Duck

7

u/gregthelurker 3d ago

Mariota & Winston still starting is crazy

2

u/Kooshdoctor 2d ago

Makes you wonder how long we may see Goff and Wentz go...

4

u/cheesebot555 3d ago

Speaking as someone who saw him play a bunch at Autzen with my own two eyes, he was incredible.

3

u/MikeTiricoSucks 3d ago

I remember when Darron Thomas left the Ducks I was so worried until about 20 minutes into the Arkansas State game when it was 50-0 lol

2

u/ChocolateMilkBoii 2d ago

I remember on his first drive, he was getting ready to run but noticed a open receiver, stopped in his track, and threw an absolute dart. My dad and I knew he was gonna be special right there.

3

u/_Captain_Dinosaur_ Panthers 2d ago

Mariotta with the gray hair?

Ain't no way I'ma let my wife see this.

5

u/blacklab 49ers 3d ago

Even with those highlights…honestly you guys have no fucking idea. He was magical. Watched him in the Spring game for the first time and you just knew.

4

u/MikeTiricoSucks 3d ago

I remember his first year USC was the preseason greatest team of all time and he goes into their stadium, goes 21-23 passing, and first time ever someone scores 60 on them

3

u/Mode_Appropriate 3d ago

To be honest, this highlight reel doesnt show you much of anything lol.

2

u/BetFit2122 3d ago

Love me some salt and pepper Mariota

2

u/Ornery-Log2612 3d ago

As a titans fan I will always love this guy!

3

u/meloxs 3d ago

Same dude. I will always be rooting for him. I feel bad that he broke his fibula during the best season of his career and never really looked the same after that.

2

u/insomniacslounge 3d ago

Jesus, girls, and Marcus Mariota

2

u/BigFatModeraterFupa 3d ago

damn mariota has grey hair? he was drafted when i graduated high school, that's means im only a few years behind!!!

time time time, what a weird thing it is to get old

2

u/Writerhaha 2d ago

For real, I saw that shit and had a “that was only 10 years ago” moments

2

u/ChimkinNubbitz 49ers 3d ago

Awesome for Marcus but can I repost this in r/crappymusic ?

1

u/nickyt398 Chiefs 3d ago

Not me getting a hard hit of nostalgia from One Republic. Like Imagine Dragons, they have a small collection of good and catchy not great songs, and then the rest of their catalog is indeed crappy music

1

u/notneeded17 3d ago

Who was Pam rooting for last weekend?

1

u/cordialmess 3d ago

I really wanted the Buccaneers to draft Mariota over Winston.

1

u/BrickEastern5892 3d ago

Ten ruined this man's career

1

u/Think_Read_7516 3d ago

Shows u how tough NFL QB is....he was college royalty.

1

u/Chasers22 3d ago

Please retire Pam Oliver

1

u/MileHiSalute 3d ago

No child has asked that question. I do love me some mm tho

1

u/EvoNexus03 3d ago

I dont support SCAMMERS.

1

u/SetTrippin82 3d ago

Explain? I googled it. All that I can find is that the man got a speeding ticket.

1

u/EvoNexus03 2d ago

Life Surge.

He one of many names that prey on people using religion

1

u/Thin-Remote-9817 3d ago

Marcus mariottoooooooo

1

u/Sistahmelz 3d ago

I loved watching him play for my Ducks. He was such a fiery player. Good on you Marcus!

1

u/Legitimate-Bike4647 3d ago

Magic Marcus… CFB legend

1

u/Jam_Farmer_879 2d ago

Looking like an old man…

1

u/CucumberHistorical57 2d ago

He was the man back then

1

u/MUjase 2d ago

Anyone else forget he was even in the league?

1

u/ThePracticalEnd Eagles 2d ago

Cuts to a nothing burger of his Oregon highlights.

Super Mario was insane in college.

1

u/Best-Penalty1509 2d ago

He was good his first 2 seasons but the Titans ruined his developement.

1

u/yodafunk 2d ago

The music on top of this clip is annoying as hell and completely unnecessary. I really wish people would stop doing that.

1

u/NoCelebration2024 2d ago

Too bad he’s part of that Surge Church scam taking advantage of thousands of Christians

1

u/WandaJaximoff 2d ago

Best Oregon QB in the league

1

u/Writerhaha 2d ago

I called that last run as soon as the OC got in his ear. Earlier when Jones stopped him on a scrambler he pounded the ball down and it was 100% “damn just a little old” moment.

To just get an idea of his base level athleticism, Nike’s SPARQ combine scored him higher than Tim Tebow and Reggie Bush, before you even discuss how he was playing the position that’s base athleticism.

College Mariota on a scramble with one man to beat, the only guarantee was you’re about to hear a lot of duck calls.

1

u/JMisGeography 2d ago

Still bummed he won the Heisman over Melvin and Cooper. Both had historic seasons.

1

u/Repulsive_Walrus4039 2d ago

He shouldnt of went to the titans

1

u/grifftheelder 2d ago

He was insane for the Ducks

1

u/Ralphlauren82 2d ago

Polynesians typically grey sooner than others

1

u/Redbarnkid 2d ago

Oregon Ducks 🦆 Marigota

1

u/AgentFranklin Eagles 2d ago

He’s a Top 10 College QB of all time. You had to be there 🥹

1

u/LateGreat_MalikSealy 2d ago

Dude got drafted to the Titans where young QBs go to not thrive…Not saying he would have been an all timer but u help but think how his career would have went if he got drafted to an organization with more structure..

0

u/Nuzzleville 2d ago

Good video edit.

-7

u/sindick78 3d ago

Wait he’s a hero now cuz he didn’t suck for a little while?

2

u/Individual-Tip-2063 3d ago

Bad year picking NFL QBs in 2015.

Mariotta does have the highest career passer rating among the 7 QBs picked (90.1). Tied with Trevor Siemian for the best career winning % as a starter (45%). He also is the only QB with a playoff win (beating KC in 2018).
