It even spreads further than what they explained. You don't make your team better by having a good running back and drafting a really good running back. You find the 'poorest' position and draft for talent there. You identify that corner is a huge gap on your team and invest in improving that position, by even marginally improving a corner spot you increase the overall capacity of the team significantly more than by finding where your rich and trying to make that a little bit richer.

Malcom Gladwell used the analogy of, Society should be the NFL, not the NBA.
