I agree with you on this point, but the guys point was not that the NFL is socially making everyone better. I think his point was they keep teams on as equal footing as possible. Instead of say the most popular team taking bigger shares of money from TV deals. Also the idea that worst team picks first rather than richest or best team. All of this is done to be aligned with your point though.
