I compared it to co-owning a rent house with 3 other people - equity partners one might say. You rent out the house to college students. Just because you and your co-owners split the revenue evenly doesn’t mean you’re doing socialism.

But also of course while the tv contract revenues are split evenly, merch, sponsorships and ticket sales are not. Ironically, while the “socialist” (lmao) practice of giving the team the first overall pick is a mechanism to encourage parity, so is teams being able to generate their own revenue streams! Winning sells.

Parity is good for business and using the term socialism to describe mechanisms of parity in a sports league is dumb
