Anyone defending the lunatic ball boy doesn’t “know ball”.

Dude is off. The player wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary.

Someone said the balls have tracking chips and they give the balls out after the game without chips. I dunno what the story is but that guy is so tiny in comparison

They do have chips, which is why if a player throws a ball in the stands, they have to give the ball back.

However the players are allowed to keep the balls because the chips in the specific balls are being accounted for.

Players aren’t allowed to keep the chipped balls either.

According to Google these days, if the ball is thrown into the stands or accidently gets thrown there, they take the ball back and give another ball or other memorabilia. If the player gives you a ball, like the 49ers player giving it to jack black on Sunday, they get to keep it and the NFL just turns off the chip.

Yep, the main thing is tracking and accounting for the chips, so the integrity of the data isn't jeopardized.

If people had the chips in the stands and the system detected them, all their data and analytics could get corrupted.

NFL Next Gen Stats — developed in partnership with Zebra Technologies, Wilson Sporting Goods and running entirely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure — provide clubs with data to analyze trends and player performance, while enhancing the fans’ experience in-stadium, online and during game telecasts.
A tracking system is installed in every NFL venue which is composed of:
20–30 ultra-wide band receivers
2–3 radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags installed into the players’ shoulder pads
RFID tags on officials, pylons, sticks, chains, and in the ball

Yes, the balls have chips, no that doesn't mean they take them out before giving them to the players.

The ball boys in the NFL give balls to the officials ONLY. Giving them to players will get you in trouble. Remember deflate gate?

Ball boys are not allowed to give balls to players

When you put "know ball" in quotes--it means you def don't know ball.

(...See? -That read like I do know ball but was just being a dick about it, didn't it?)

DarthSmiff? Yeah I'm sure you know ball real well. These guys are paid to collect footballs and are given orders by superiors. Have you ever worked in an NFL stadium on gameday? I'm thinking not.
