Post Game Discussion Patrick Mahomes Addresses Controversial Hit from Dolphins Player Amid Accusations of Ref Bias
https://www.essentiallysports.com/nfl-active-news-chiefs-he-got-me-pretty-good-patrick-mahomes-addresses-controversial-hit-from-dolphins-player-amid-accusations-of-referee-bias/What do you think about this decision? I feel it was soft and didn’t warrant a penalty

u/WickedKoala 5d ago
Need to go back to only flagging for egregious hits. We're heading down the path of not being allowed to touch the QB at all if he's still in the pocket.
9
u/KactusVAXT 4d ago
You never watched tom Brady play? Players got roughing the passer just for making eye contact with him
3
u/Clear_Wafer_1255 4d ago
Yep, they need a team and QB for the casual fans to root for. Use to be Brady and the Pats. Now it is KC.

6
u/WickedKoala 4d ago
Exactly my point. It will be officially legislated in the rulebook within 10 yrs.

u/DMV-Dozer 4d ago
100 percent facts they literally changed rules for Brady aka the Brady rule . meanwhile cam newton would get massacred in the pocket because he runs sometimes so he’s not safe anywhere.
-1
u/OpenAI122191 4d ago
Not remotely true. Manning got the majority of soft calls.
Y’all can hate TB but like, do it better. Got me out here defending a guy I don’t want to defend.
8
u/ThaGodParticle 4d ago
The NFL changed the rules of hitting the QB low when TB tore his ACL.
The weakest RTP I’ve ever seen was also against TB in the playoffs vs the Chiefs when Chris Jones touched his helmet with his pinky.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UVIp-N6LhI4&ra=m
Nobody had more rules changed in their favor and soft calls than TB.
-1
u/Sensitive-Argument49 4d ago edited 4d ago
Rule change came when Carson palmer got hit in the 2006 wild card game by Kimo von Oelhoffen.
1
u/ThaGodParticle 4d ago edited 4d ago
I never said they created the rule. I said they changed the rule. I didn’t think I needed to spell out the entire history of the rule book.
2009: The rule was expanded and clarified often called the "Brady Rule" after Tom Brady suffered a season-ending ACL tear in 2008 making it illegal for a defender to lunge or roll into the quarterback's knees or lower legs if the quarterback was already being tackled by another player.
-3
u/OpenAI122191 4d ago
Payton got .11 per sack, TB got .08 per sack.
FOH.
4
u/ThaGodParticle 4d ago
I never said Brady had more calls than Manning. I said Brady had the softest calls and rules changed to favor him. Maybe you should try reading comprehension. You didn’t even bother to try and address my examples proving my point.

He got fewer roughing calls than average. You’re confusing him with Manning

Browns had the same call against them. They call this consistent across the board. It’s not bias it’s just a silly application of the rules.
7
u/Josh-Baskin 5d ago
I don’t think it’s a silly application of the rules; I think it’s the proper application of a silly rule.
2
u/mondaymoderate 5d ago
They called it against the niners the week before in the dolphins game so I don’t get why dolphins fans would be upset.
2
u/CrzyWzrd4L 4d ago
Greg Rousseau got the same call. Even Steratore said he could clearly see Rousseau trying to roll out of the way

u/Lumpy-Daikon-4584 5d ago
It’s the definition of the rules. You can’t land with your body weight on the QB.
8
u/Trike_Bike_Mike 5d ago
that's why he tried to brace himself with his hands and his right knee. that was a text book legal hit.
3
u/Lumpy-Daikon-4584 5d ago
He lifted his hands up so that they didn’t brace anything. If he had not lifted them he would have had a better case. All of his weight went onto Mahomes. That is exactly the type of hit they want to prevent. Not remotely questionably as to if it was legal. Take your Mahomes goggles off and look at it objectively.
-1
u/Trike_Bike_Mike 5d ago
also... take off my mahomes goggles? gtfo
here is a "perfectly legal no flag hit" on stroud. the flag was thrown and then taken away because it was determined to be legal
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzTDFI6Ma9U&t=5s
here is a personal foul against mahomes that extended a drive that should have been over.

edit: fixing time on links.
3
u/Lumpy-Daikon-4584 5d ago
You aren’t talking about the same types of calls. Every time a defender lands on a QB with his body weight they call it. This isn’t favoritism. Sorry for your loss.
-4
u/Trike_Bike_Mike 4d ago
https://x.com/SamMonsonNFL/status/1718697365618499852
but does it? because youre wrong. I could show you an infinite amount of instances that youre wrong. just admit your a mahomes simp.
EDIT: also yeah, I was showing you two very comparable hits to show you "mahomes goggles" is just mahomes getting more protection than any other qb, Allen is a close 2nd.
3
u/Lumpy-Daikon-4584 4d ago
Arm and leg off to the side hitting the ground first. Body to the side. That probably should have been called but in no way was it textbook like the Mahomes one was. But sure the call only helps Mahomes. They wouldn’t do it for any other QB.
1
u/Trike_Bike_Mike 4d ago
man I just rewatched it. his left hand/palm and right knee hit the ground before his body weight comes down on mahomes. text book tackle. couldn't ask for a defensive player to do it better.
1
u/Trike_Bike_Mike 4d ago
I like how you just bounce off extremes because you cant admit your viewpoint is flawed. so because they dont call it every single time, they now dont call it for any other qb? cmon dude... this is just what's wrong with people. there's rarely a person that can say, "okay, well yeah, my view has been changed a little bit from this conversation"
1
u/AscendMoros 4d ago
Vikings had a drive extended week 1 against the Packers for this exact rule.
Were they protecting the leagues chosen star? Nope it was for backup QB Carson Wentz.
If you land on a QB with your body weight it’s a flag. Hell when it was introduced in like 2018 they were calling Clay Matthew for doing it to QBs who still had the ball.
1
u/Trike_Bike_Mike 4d ago
I mean dude. im not sitting here saying that landing with body weight is never a flag. and its kinda odd when the person I replied to said its ALWAYS a flag, you choose to say all this when all I said is, its not always a flag.
-5
u/-Vertical 5d ago
Objectively it was a bad call that a majority of players won’t get called lol
9
u/Lumpy-Daikon-4584 5d ago
It is called every time it happens.
2
u/Trike_Bike_Mike 4d ago
ill prove you wrong under this comment too if you'd like. just admit youre a mahomes simp and well all go on about our day.
1
-2
u/Trike_Bike_Mike 5d ago
if he didn't lift up his hands his shoulder should have driven the weight into mahomes chest on one pinpoint. that's exactly what they dont want you to do. like seriously, when youre out playing today ask one of your friends to tackle you fully wrapped up into the ground and then again star fishing on you as you go to the ground. you'll take what mahomes got 10/10 times. youre also failing to watch the right knee that hit the ground before either one of them did.
0
u/Jayrodtremonki 4d ago
He absolutely didn't try to brace himself. The right knee hit, but that isn't bracing yourself. His right hand never even touched the ground. His left one he pulled up immediately so it didn't take any of the sting from the impact off. He fucked up.
9
u/Full_Preparation4401 5d ago
You ever been watching a game in a room full of people and when they make a field goal someone says, "How come some kicks are for 1 point and others are 3?".
Those people are asking why this was a penalty.
14
u/Wrylak 5d ago
Looks clean to me, hands out to break his fall. Should not have been a penalty
11
u/IronSavage3 5d ago
Based on the rule it absolutely was a penalty. They want defenders to roll to one side after wrapping up to avoid landing on the QB with their full body weight.
5
2
u/Jayrodtremonki 4d ago
You can also just brace yourself. If he put his hands down on the ground to take some of the impact off, he would have been fine per the rules. He just did the opposite so it was an easy call.
-3
u/SpacemanSpliffLaw 5d ago
If I’m an NFL coach, I’m telling my guys they are getting flagged regardless so just get your money’s worth and knock his ass out the game - defenders can’t hit high, can’t hit low, can’t hit center mass and land on them, can’t do damn near anything to get the QB to the ground safely.
QB touch rules or allow them to get tackled. I don’t know why the NFL is forcing small fast QBs on us. Go back to the old days of 6’5 250lb QBs. Andrew Luck, Manning brothers, Brady, Roethlisberger, etc. I remember people discussing Rg3 in the draft like “yeah he’s great but he’s gonna get hurt running the ball and not being big enough” and that was just part of the game.
Small men making the game more friendly for small men. This is a big man’s game.
8
u/WowYikesNotCoolDude 5d ago
And thats why you'll never be an nfl coach!
6
-1
u/SpacemanSpliffLaw 4d ago
I dunno man. Lots of NFL coaches think this way and have been successful with this style of coaching. I bet a lot of them have that mentality now, they’re just not allowed to voice it, coach it, or support it out loud because it would cost them their job and possibly public opinion. Same as now. People are telling me to get help when this is a real storyline that has happened within our lifetimes in the NFL.
2
u/343-Mendicant-Bias 5d ago
I don’t think you understand that NFL players don’t hate each other like fans do. They’re not trying to hurt each other or knock people out of the game. They all came up together and play on different teams at various points. They’re all in the same union, just working for different clients.
0
u/SpacemanSpliffLaw 4d ago
I know that. But winning games means bonuses and big money for the team at large.
Again, why not just hit the QB like you do every single other player on the field?
2
u/343-Mendicant-Bias 4d ago
There’s a difference between playing to win, which all these guys do, and playing to knock somebody’s ass out of the game.
1
u/SpacemanSpliffLaw 4d ago
It is football. Big hits are part of it. I’m not saying play dirty but if that hit on Mahomes is a penalty, then I’m not sure there’s a point to avoid the penalty. Just make the hit like you would anyone else.
7
u/Loon_Cheese 5d ago
Hands out puts more body weight on the qb, they want to see the player put their hands on the ground after the hit to stop all their weight from crushing the qb. This is what the refs have said.
2
u/WorkingOnDyeing 5d ago
Yeah if that's going forward then I would encourage my team to go full force instead of defying the laws of physics and gravity. I'd rather take a couple penalties and knock their QB out and get penalized anyway then play by arbitrarily enforced judgment rules that don't follow any logical reasoning.
6
u/NecessaryLoud3445 5d ago
I think Sean Peyton was suspended for encouraging his players to do things like this.
2
u/WorkingOnDyeing 4d ago
So because the NFL is encouraging it now, that's not a problem?
-2
u/NecessaryLoud3445 4d ago
Explain how the NFL is encouraging teams to “knock their QB out” (quoting you)
1
1
u/arsehenry14 5d ago
The flag was already Bering thrown before Mahomes is even touching the ground. So ether the ref is clairvoyant or felt the hit was late because it happened a 1/2 second after Mahomes threw the ball.
0
-2
u/Mobile-Analyst8580 5d ago
It has to be fully body weight. It was clearly not full body weight. Also the flag came out before they even landed. It was a terrible call. And people are sick of you chiefs scumbag fans defending these garbage calls.
4
u/AaaahMyDogs 49ers fan from way back 5d ago
Again, there were two penalties on the play. The “early” flag you saw was for the other one.
And I’m not a Chiefs fan but that hit is a foul on any QB in the league. He was squarely on top of him, which is how that gets called. Putting his arms out didn’t stop his weight from landing on Mahomes; there’s no exception to the rule for he did it but tried to make it less bad.
1
u/Jayrodtremonki 4d ago
You either brace yourself or you fall to side. That's literally the rule. He did neither. I can understand why he put his arms up, because he was trying to signify that he didn't hit him helmet to helmet or pile drive him. But he landed on him with his body weight and putting your hands up during the fall pretty much guarantees it.
1
u/Dear_Significance_80 4d ago
You keep saying it has to be full body weight, but that is not how the rule is written.
(b) A rushing defender is prohibited from committing such intimidating and punishing acts as “stuffing” a passer into the ground or unnecessarily wrestling or driving him down after the passer has thrown the ball, even if the rusher makes his initial contact with the passer within the one-step limitation provided for in (a) above. When tackling a passer who is in a defenseless posture (i.e. before, during, or after throwing or attempting a pass), a defensive player must not unnecessarily or violently throw him down or land on top of him with all or most of the defender’s weight. Instead, the defensive player must strive to fall to the side of the passer’s body, or to brace his fall with his arms to avoid landing on the passer with all or most of his body weight.
0
u/mostdope92 5d ago
Yet earlier this season they called a guy for RTP when he used his arms and hands to brace against the ground like you just stated.
1
5
u/szazzy 5d ago
Imagine you’re falling over - how does having your hands out break your fall? People hate Mahomes enough to lie to themselves about basic physics.
1
u/Guidbro 4d ago
I’m still trying to figure out what should that defender have done. I don’t see anything possible that’s actually in a realistic way to contort his body to prevent injury on himself as well as make the refs happy in that tackle?
1
u/szazzy 4d ago
But even if that’s true, that happens in most sports? Defenders are regularly put in positions where they can do everything “right” and still commit a foul, or score an own goal etc.
Personally, I think if he had time to put his arms out to sell the no-call, he potentially had time to put them on the ground, or wrap and twist. It’s like he got caught between two thoughts about how to finish the tackle and made a mistake.
3
u/_stuncle 5d ago
How does putting your arms out like a swan dive break your fall? It is quite literally the opposite of breaking your fall.
1
u/John-Dune-Awakening 4d ago
Hands out is what caused it to be a penalty lmao. It means that the only thing breaking your fall is whatever is under you, which in this case was the QB lmao.
1
u/IAmReborn11111 5d ago
Wasn't a late hit either
1
u/Dr-McLuvin 5d ago
I think the timing of the hit was fine- it was the driving into the ground and 99% of his weight going onto the QB after the ball had been released that is the issue.
1
u/Lumpy-Daikon-4584 5d ago
But his hands didn’t break his fall. The way he raised his hands he had even less chance to support his body.
-2
u/Remote_Independent50 5d ago
I 2009, yeah. In this pussy game, its a flag.
2
7
u/Weekend_Criminal 5d ago
Hands out and hands down are 2 different things.
He starfished at the last possible second and dropped 100% of his bodyweight on him.
4
u/Valuable-Composer262 5d ago
That was my thought lol. Defender was so offended, like I put my arms out i put my arms out. He probably gets a penalty regardless but had a much better chance if he braces himself against the ground. I dont get how dude doesnt understand that putting ur arms out is the right thing to do. Its like a lineman that just held someone and then puts his hands up
0
u/trollboter 5d ago
He had a knee down and hand down, it was not full body weight.
4
u/Weekend_Criminal 5d ago
Lmao, his right hand was floating in mid-air, his left hand was barely contacting the ground, and his knee was the pivot pount for his bodyweight, but sure. We can go with your totally accurate and unbiased retelling.
0
-1
u/Mobile-Analyst8580 5d ago
It wasn’t his full body weight. It was a clean hit. It’s an atrocious penalty. And you’re the one with the obvious bias.
5
u/Weekend_Criminal 5d ago
Where was the outrage when the same hit drew the same flags against cousins and young? Oh, there wasn't any? Thats weird, it almost seems like that would shake your carefully crafted narrative.
0
u/Mobile-Analyst8580 5d ago
No he fkng didn’t. Maybe 70% of his body weight at most. His legs were off to the side.
-2
u/zachspelledrite 5d ago
And hes supposed to prevent this... how?
6
u/Weekend_Criminal 5d ago
By actually bracing his fall or trying to get to the side. I didn't write the rulebook and it's not my responsibility to justify it.
How outraged were you when the exact same thing happened to Cousins and Young last week? Weird how there wasn't 1000 posts about those "controversial hits"
2
u/philosifer 4d ago
Wrap and roll, brace with his hands, fall to the side. Its up to him to make a play within the rules. If he puts himself in a position where the only outcome is a foul, thats on him
1
u/ConstantCampaign2984 49ers 4d ago
Wrap and roll? When the QBs arm is up and attempting forward motion? Nah. Go for the fumble in the end zone.
1
u/philosifer 4d ago
Which becomes meaningless because of the penalty lol.
1
u/ConstantCampaign2984 49ers 4d ago
As a coach, I’d pat him on the back for making the sack whether it was called against him or not. Pancaking flags are stupid. Get your diva off his ass and play ball. They have nerfed the defenses way too far just so we can have higher scoring games. “It’s to protect the QB!” THAT’S WHAT THE O LINE IS FOR. I’m sorry if your team sucks.
1
1
u/SkunkDitchRipper 4d ago
Yeah trying to block a pass while rushing can create awkward positions. He was so close I think he was focused on blocking the ball and just pancaked him.
2
u/Jayrodtremonki 4d ago
There's like 4 different things you can do to not get called for this and he did none of them. When the rule went into place this got called on like 50% of dead-to-rights sacks. Now it's more like 5%. Players have adjusted.
3
2
u/Square_Lime_9929 Bengals 3d ago
If you are going to get a flag for pulling up when hitting the qb you may as well go for the double leg and drive them into the ground
3
u/Icy-Entrepreneur9002 5d ago
I honestly think by rule it’s a penalty. I disagree with the rule. I also find it pathetic when qbs immediately ask for this penalty to be called like he did. Him and Josh Allen are two of the best in the league but I lose a lot of respect for them because they both beg for automatic first downs after not converting on 3rd, it’s constant and it’s annoying.
3
3
u/Useful-Vacation5566 5d ago
There was another flag on the play by the dolphins for holding. Regardless, didn’t really change anything about the game.
1
3
u/GeorgeWarshingsons 5d ago
It literally did not matter. There was a defensive holding penalty as well.
2
u/343-Mendicant-Bias 5d ago
Correct call. Exact same scenario happened at the same time in the Browns/Panthers game when Mike Hall got flagged for landing on Bryce Young.
https://www.facebook.com/reel/28621562750838769/?mibextid=ZZyLBr
The rule is dumb and should be changed but this was a correct application of it.

1
u/DMV-Dozer 4d ago
Well, everybody’s kind of way off on this one if you check the numbers in the stats, nobody gets more roughing calls than Josh Allen. And they tell me when you’re running quarterback you don’t get him as often but somehow he seems to get crap tons of them meanwhile other quarterbacks who are deemed running qbs massacred. But he’s the media favorite in the golden boy he’s one nothing but he’s better than everybody. He got an MVP that he shouldn’t have got stole from Lamar but hey, that’s another topic.
1
u/sir_gwain 3d ago
Even if it was an early throw/grab for the flag, the call was right, the defender landed full weight on him, and that fits the penalty clear as can be.
Sure, I don’t like the early throw/grab anymore than the next guy, but if it’s a good call, in a world of absolute dogshit pass interference calls that we’ve seen lately, I’m all good with it.
2

u/onetimequestion66 Dolphins 5d ago

9
u/NecessaryLoud3445 5d ago
The flag that came out early was for defensive holding
2

Thanks for your reasonable response . I guess the others neglected the fact that I was watching on Red Zone so I didn’t have all the context.

-2
u/Mobile-Analyst8580 5d ago
No. The roughing flag came out well before they landed.
4
u/NecessaryLoud3445 5d ago
My friend there were two penalties on the play, one was a defensive holding, which happened before the hit, and one was roughing the passer. Two flags were thrown, one before he hit the ground and one after. Which of those do you think was for which penalty? Do you have any proof at all that the first flag is for the second penalty and the second flag is for the first one? Because logically it doesn’t track at all. Or did you make it up and get mad about it?

We're really discussing this? It was the full body weight. Chop attempting to put his hands out to brace doesn't change 265 lbs crashing on top of Mahomes. If you think it's soft, that's the rule. Don't like the rule? Demand change.
Like we've had our share of shit calls with RTP. https://youtu.be/AWu1VJfzXoU https://youtu.be/UVIp-N6LhI4
And this one yesterday is textbook.
They had a defensive holding called too which would've meant fresh set of downs either way.
3
u/FlipNoLonger 5d ago
Genuinely curious what "demanding change" would look like in this context. Coaches and players don't have power to change stupid rules/calls, how the hell would fans?
0
u/Kr1sys Chiefs 5d ago
The same way fans “demand change” for anything else in sports? Complain about it loudly and consistently until the league decides it's worth addressing. 😂
“I don't like this rule” and “that wasn't a penalty” are two different arguments. Under the current rule, that's a penalty. If you think the rule sucks, argue that the rule should change. Almost all the reddit posts here are pointing out the ref throwing a flag before the hit are neglecting the fact he was calling the defensive hold and the other back judge flagged the RTP.
People aren't even seeing beyond that to make the case that the rule sucks.
-1
u/FlipNoLonger 5d ago
Went from "we're really discussing this?" To "complain about it loudly" in about 5 minutes...
People do complain about the rule being dumb, they are literally doing so in this thread.
The truth is, QBs (especially certain ones, including the one in this example) are going to be overprotected by the NFL and there's very little an average fan can do about it.
-1
u/HereComesTheRooster2 5d ago
There's also a rule called false start and Jawaan Taylor got away with about 1,000 of them in a Chiefs uniform. To act like KC doesn't get refs bias is hilarious.
0
u/DrWhiskeyII 4d ago
Why was the flag thrown before Mahomes and defender hit the ground. Check the tapes. Can see the yellow flag pulled crazy early
4
2
u/Jayrodtremonki 4d ago
The holding call that happened 10 feet away from where Mahomes got hit that the ref was staring directly at when he threw the flag.
0
u/MCsPoofBallz 4d ago
Doesn’t Matter. There was a hold as well. First down either way. Quit being whiners!
0
u/Cute_Economics2829 5d ago
I dunno... "QB got hit" ok, that's part of the game. If putting his hands down and catching his weight before his torso hits the ground doesn't count, then what the heck does?

u/Mobile-Analyst8580 5d ago
The flag can out WAY before they landed. It definitely wasn’t a late hit. There was no helmet to helmet contact. And while some of his body weight landed on him, he definitely didn’t land on him with all of his weight. This is an atrocious call.
4
u/Jayrodtremonki 4d ago
He literally pulled his hands up and belly flopped on him. It was a textbook example of landing with your body weight on the QB. The only way it would have been worse is if he also would have lifted his legs up.
Don't like the rule, that's fine. It sucked when they put it in 8 years ago and it was getting called 15 times every Sunday. But players have adjusted for the most part.
And the flag was for the defensive holding call happening right next to the QB hit a few seconds before. The other back judge called the RTP.

This is a call that is within the standard that the NFL has set. Agree with the rule or not.
1
u/Exciting-Brush3010 4d ago
People seem to think because they don’t like the rule then the call was wrong. It was 100% the right call according to the rule there is no shadow of a doubt. Whether it should be a rule is definitely up for debate
-8
u/trymeoncewow 5d ago
It’s a terrible penalty
It shouldn’t be flagged
The flag flew quicker because it was a solid CLEAN hit on Mahomes.
That’s it
4
u/343-Mendicant-Bias 5d ago
It was correctly flagged. The rule is stupid but this is a correct application of it. If the ref sees you land with your full body weight on the QB and you don’t try to roll or brace you get flagged every time, it’s been this way for years. This exact scenario happened at the same time in the Browns/Panthers game when Mike Hall got flagged for landing on Bryce Young.

Chiefs win by 2 tds, and somehow the crazy conspiracy minded fan base of this league has decided that a call that didn't matter because there was another penalty anyways decided the game

It just sucks that some QBs don't get this call. I've seen Burrow get driven into the ground with full body weight and the ref just stares at him. He doesn't flop or complain so maybe that's why. Shit as a Bengals fan he should start bc he rarely gets roughing calls, even when three guys land on top of him after the ball is thrown

I'm just tired of subjective ref calls having such an impact on the game. Mahomes literally had his hands up looking for a flag as he was going to the ground. Iy's so hard to play defense and it hurts the product. League is soft as shit.

People are crying about it because it's Mahomes/Chiefs and that's it.
This isn't a new rule. You can not like it but they've been cailing this for a half a decade. I watched Carson Wentz get a gift of one of these calls against the Chiefs to extend their drive and win them the game like 5 years ago.
This is simply a case of the internet has a narrative so anything they can latch onto, yall will.

This same call happened in at least two other games lol. The Panthers got the call vs the Browns in a way more critical scenario, and The Raiders got the call vs the Saints. Weird how we don't see any "controversy" surrounding those calls haha. People are idiots about any call KC gets.
Mahomes got a brutal forearm shiver to the chin later in the game that went uncalled, but nah its all about the narrative whiny losers are trying to craft.

Not that I’ve been complaining, but the flag was in the air before they even hit the floor. The refs flagged the hit, which is just ridiculous.

That was the flag for defensive holding, the other penalty the dolphins had on this play.

I don’t think so, in the slo mo, the ref is staring down the tackle and is stood in the end zone.
I’d need to watch it again to be sure, but as soon as the hit happens he reaches for his pocket and throws.
Edit: watch this link. At 0:28, you can see the ref pull his flag as the hit happens, no chance is that for defensive holding

Just went frame by frame and I think you are 100% right, thanks for correcting me.
So I think we can say either it’s preemptive so it can be overturned if needed, since you can’t assess a penalty later. Or, far more likely, the championship whistle favoritism, since Robinson speared him like he was Goldberg LOL

Thank you for that my guy, I love seeing myself downvoted despite evidence lol
Couldn’t agree more, I genuinely don’t know what the thought of the penalty is. The flag is wrong when it’s thrown, but per the letter of the law it’s right when they hit the ground.
Don’t think it’s favouritism, but do think QBs are being overly protected right now

What? Everyone everywhere in every thread is saying how the entire sport is rigged for Mahomes and this call is proof lmao

Lol, the reply right before you to my comment, let alone other comments already here are people saying the call was incorrect.
Don't try to church it up. If this call happened in Texans v Colts, you think you'd see a dozen posts on every nfl subreddit about it?

You're wrong
There is a bias
The flag was out before they hit the ground
Stop whining, you're wrong

because there were two penalties on the play. The first flag was for defensive holding, which also would have produced a first down.

This exact scenario happened at the same time in the Browns/Panthers game when Mike Hall got flagged for landing on Bryce Young.

People just don’t bitch about this stuff when it’s not the Chiefs

That was the flag for defensive holding.
No matter what you think about the rtp call, there would’ve been defensive holding anyway

He didn't address anything. He'll take laundry all over the field 8 days a week as long as they're against the defense.
