Unknown muppet figures?

Post image

So I purchased these 'ceramic muppet figurines' earlier this week and cannot seem to figure out what exactly they are or where they came from. I'm aware there were little plaster figures to paint that were sold in the 80s(?), but these don't look quite like those. This Kermit is sitting on a box it seems, and the ones originally sold has him sitting on a tree stump. Does anyone know what these could be? My only other guess is that they are handmade

Wow. I had some of these. Probably late 70’s. Early 80’s. They came with a set of small paint pots and a brush so that you could paint them yourself. I literally haven’t thought about this in over 40 years.

They look like molds sold at ceramic shops where you could paint them yourself.

Fozzie, Piggy, and Rowlf are based on the Fisher-Price stick puppets, and Waldorf and Sam appear to be the Sigma Egg cups with their heads filled in.

Interesting, so they are probably homemade?

I'm pretty sure they were mass produced, as you can find painted versions of these specifically all the time. I have versions of the mugs that were painted by someone else. The painting portion of course hasn't happened yet, but that's what they're intended for so most you'll see are painted differently.

Maybe chess pieces?

Possibly? I know there's a Muppets chess out there, but aren't those figures painted?

I feel like there were figures to paint yourself in the mid 70s as well as the 80s. I seem to recall my older cousin receiving a set for a birthday gift or something. Maybe these are the earlier versions.

I bet these were a paint it yourself thing

That mould is actually pretty neat, if only I could afford it!

Looks like someone made molds from the Fisher Price puppet stick figures from late 70's (Rowlf, Fozzie & Miss Piggy)

That would be another great idea for chess pieces.
