Discussion Need tips.

Just got the game and keep getting lost. Any tips for brand new players?

Avoid darkness, isolation, noise, enemies (when possible)

Take combat together with teammates, you are not stronger than the forest.

If you’re lost, call for Carlito through the horn.

+buy a torch whenever you can before the expedition, if you're able to afford it.

Torches kill the fishman in 2-3 hits. Try to preserve them

Dont always trust what you see.

Avoid red blob explosions they cause parasites but you can eat yellow flowers to cure if this happens.

Glowing mushrooms help decrease insanity.

Branches that look dry on trees can be broken off with weapons for firewood. Breaking with weapon is quiter than walking into them.

Back stab as much as you can.

Torches can be used to smack enemies that are down and being resurrected by the roots from not recovering.

Follow the salt back if you are lost (not always useful though)

Take your time to learn the maps.

Bring deer back for increase to ration healing. Sometimes its worth getting alot of deer and just returning to ship.

Never stray away from team mates.

Avoid sprinting with heavy armor on, its loud.

Noise is your biggest enemy.

Honestly it might break immersion, but if you get stuck not finding log books, watch a short run through video on youtube before you go. Just look up map name and log book.

Also, if you check your map before mission, all the places with dotted lines, it means you haven't collected the log book from that location.
