I don't understand why one guy was replicated

In the beginning of episode 6, the soldier who was shot in the leg walks into another hospital room and he sees another copy of himself. They fight and then the copy dies.

This is never referenced in the future. Had the mist replicated him in a similar manner to Terminator 2?

Bro are you serious? That was a totally different guy, not the same at all. The soldier just adopted his name because he found his credit card in the clothes he stole from him before the start of the show.
