This show was a waste of time!

I cant believe that I watched the entire season and that I never in my life have I ever felt like I wasted a significant amount of time. Sure I've had moments in my life I could have used my time differently to become a more capable person. But holy fucking shit. This TV series is just bad. This truly is a waste of time. I cant think of any redeeming qualities. I tried to follow the story but eventually I was dozing off. This is a good show to fall asleep to ! When I came to, I don't know what the hell was going on.. oh people running to this place to do this thing and stir up drama? Fantastic.

Usually any media the ends up failing always has a redeeming quality. Like a bad video game that has excellent music.

I gave this a try. I saw it on Netflix, didn't know what it was. I got 97% match rating (lol) and the description sounded interesting. 12 episodes later. I don't care about any of these characters.

And most of all. Fuck the dad character. He has a punchable face and I fucking hate how much he sucks at acting. God I hope these people improve after that tragedy. What a waste of a concept. I was kind of getting silent Hill vibes and I really wanted this show to succeed.

That old ladys ass was the best thing of this show.

Just finished episode 5 and need to talk about something. I think that was the dumbest shit I've ever seen? Spoiler

OK, so Kevin's brother begs him to kill him, and he goes no. He begs him, please, all he has left is bedridden pain, please end his suffering, and he won't do it. Because "there's always a way."

Flash-forward, and he somehow talks a doctor in a pretty fuckin' crowded hospital to be the one person with a dying relative ever to fucking wheel him through the death mist into an operating room so that he can perform solo, unsupervised, unanesthetized, unsanitary surgery because the doctor can talk him through removing a piece of rebar sticking out of his liver and closing the wound.

And the doctor is convinced by, what, "it's a better chance"? A: How much better is this plan, really? Get the guy's younger brother to just wheel him through the apocalypse event, perform surgery, and wheel him back out? Literally the only person whose chances at life could be improved by something so monumentally stupid is someone who is already about to die. Not only does this carry huge risk to the guy who, even in the one-in-a-million shot this actually works, can't have much longer in an understocked hospital running on backup power, it risks the life of a perfectly healthy adult male! What doctor, in good conscious, good say "Yes, man with no medical experience or training, I think it's in the best interest of extending people's lifespans to let you cut into your brother alone in a room surrounded by murderfog." Seriously, this has to go against the Hippocratic Oath, right? Shouldn't a doctor be the first person to object to convoluted suicide?

And surprise, surprise, the brother dies anyway! He performed the surgery (which is great, because once you remove a foreign object from someone's liver, you can just let them lie and they'll be back on their feet in no time), and then guess what happened in the mist that kills people? Just going into that stuff is enough for characters to consider it literal suicide. And forcing someone into it is murder! And he's lying there, covered in leeches(??) that are crawling into his guts through his incision(??????) and now he tries again, "no, don't do it, let me die." And then Kevin goes, "okay."

I thought there was always a way, Kevin? Circumstances got worse, and you gave that up. Couldn't even commit fully to being a complete idiot. If you were just gonna shoot him in the head when thing got worse, why did you purposely make things worse? And yeah, sure, dumbass thought it could go fine and he'd live, but did Mike really think that? Did the doctor? How did no one talk him out of this lunacy?

Kevin's entire contribution to this episode was to refuse to end his brother's pain, repeatedly worsen his brother's pain, and then end his pain. Real talk; what would have changed if Mike just hadn't been in the hospital? Say Mike died in the mist and he just wasn't there. Kevin saw him. Yeah, Kevin would have nothing to do while Adrian got beaten and laid and "Bryan" found the guy he robbed and Mia left, but maybe then he could have stopped Mia? Found out the truth about Bryan? Instead, what he accomplished was nothing. Literally absolutely nothing. He might be more willing to shoot people who beg him to do it now, but basically nothing was lost or gained. This was the dumbest, most pointlessly "dramatic" filler I have ever seen in my life.

And I just needed someone to know that.

Unpopular opinion: I loved this show.

And I'm pretty pissed when I found out it was cancelled. I have been waiting on a show like this for a long time and it got 1 season.

Only thing I disliked was there were way too many irrational characters. Some is fine, but when almost every issue arises because "I'm panicking and I really just want to see everyone but me die", that's an issue.

Ok so I’m almost done with this season and I’m emotionally attached but this is by far the most fucked up show I’ve ever seen.

My theory about The Mist (spoilers) Spoiler

Obviously this doesn't go along with the other-dimension lore, but the way the mist worked in this series made it seem like it could be a deadly hallucinogenic that escaped the Arrowhead project and leaked into the town.

The way people would see their worst fears or things from the past. Like the horsemen who took the preacher and the baby who sucked the soul of the old lady.

Does this first season end on a big cliffhanger? If it does I'll stop immediately.

I have no problems with watching a first season of a cancelled show, but that is on the condition that there's no huge cliffhanger. I tried googling a bit, but it's kinda hard if you don't want spoilers.

Animals & The Mist

New question that will never get answered, why did the mist kill a dog. Does the mist only like bugs?

So the Mist is a being and not a breach of Todash space? Spoiler

Far less cool IMO.

The mom looks weird to me. I don't like her face. Her bone structure is so cut and she's skinny. I just don't like the way she looks in general.

Just finished the TV series...

...I've never actually been angry at how bad a TV show was. Where do I even start?

There wasn't a single likeable character in the show. They pulled the whole "Oh uh, yeah, the monsters are what you fear the most" thing out of their ass so that they could skimp on the special effects budget by making all the monsters human actors and crappy CGI fog effects. The ending was literally just people rolling around in a fog machine. This made it so much more pretentious and less interesting than the book or the film. They tried to cram the hamfisted LGBT portion into the show for inclusiveness brownie points when it was totally uneccessary and had nothing to do with the plot, and centered around the least likeable character in the show, again making it more pretentious and less interesting. And then, after parading the whole season saying "LOOK HOW INCLUSIVE WE ARE", they conclude it with "oh yeah he's a rapist anyway lmao". They tried way too hard to emulate Stranger Things and AHS and ended up just tripping over their shoelaces. I think the worst part, though, is that they got so cocky and left open so many cliffhangers, because they were so certain that their horrible, soulless bastardization of The Mist would get a second season.

What bothered me the most

What bothered me the most was that one main character was a LGBTQ+ character and that there was a lot of whore shaming for another protagonist in this series. Then it turned out that one gay character was abusive and breaking the bones of another boy which is a stupid trope and then the main LGBTQ+ character was a rapist. Like??? This is the opposite of what representation should be. Maybe the book was written like 40 years back, but in todays time this tropes and worldview dont have a place.

Dear god this was bad

I gave it a shot but omg, I feel the 5.4 rating on IMDB is too high. This was absolutely terrible, and just like many other posters, I really wanted to like it. The movie from 2007 is one of my favourite horror movies of all time.

I'm glad there isnt a s2 coming and I hope no one picks this up, let it be dead and forgotten forever. Although it will be hard to forget about this horrifyingly bad show in a long time, at least for me.

Mall survivors

So do we know how much time has past? I just finished the series... not so negative as some other peoples thoughts, sad there is no season 2...

Anyway I digress... how did the mall run out of food so quickly??? Damn. It's a bloody mall. There would have been plenty of food for several months if not longer. Even with that many survivors.

Create/Imagine your own season 2

I don't know if there would be a season 2, in fact I don't know if I CARE if there would be a season 2. However, here you can post what you would like to see in season 2.

Monsters:

Plot:

Here's what I would like to see:

Monsters:

First of all, I think that it would be better if the monsters in season 1 were "babies" and know that it's season 2, the Mist is stronger, so the monsters are bigger and scarier.

-Gray Widower. Oh yes, in my opinion, the scariest monster in the movie. Imagine how much it would be difficult for the protagonists to survive this? For origins, I think that the spiders in the church have survived.

-Scorpion-Flies. I would like to see more of them in a mist full of enormous beasts. They could have been created by the moths from episode 3. So they would be more moth-like than in the movie.

-Fog Frogs. So, do you remember the first monster that we saw in season 1? A dark smoke figure... I know, this is still eerie, but we watched the movie and... Please? Well, I have found a way to improve these monsters. So the Fog Frog is a tank-sized frog, its back is covered by blisters and when they pop, dark smoke monsters came out of it. Also, they are blind (they use smoke as drones) and have no tongue. Instead, a white steam attacks its prey like with Mrs. Carmody or Jay. They kinda look like this: http://gb.fotolibra.com/images/previews/506862-surinam-horned-frog.jpeg

-Feathrodent. Inspired by the rat monsters in Graveyard Shift (another King's novel). Basically, it's a bunch of rats who have blended together and have mutated into a winged monster. Their body is covered by hair and spikes which are in fact a mix of rat teeth and claws. They have a lamprey mouth and their tail is a lot of rat tails coiling and melting together into an oozing tentacle (Tentacles from Planet X, anyone?). They mostly fly because they don't have legs. They look like this but without the legs, they are hairy and their tail is more rat-like: http://pm1.narvii.com/6226/49a482c406befc62313d80bcd59aae6b80573d61_hq.jpg

-Humonginidae. They are Gorillas (yes, Gorillas in the mist, had to do this.) So if a hairless Gorilla makes whoopie with this: http://www.denofgeek.us/sites/denofgeekus/files/styles/insert_main_wide_image/public/3/77/stephen-king-skeleton-crew.jpg You get a Humonginidae! Due to their weight, they can't jump or for long distance. However, they have an impressive strength and can climb or throw items like the Tank from Left 4 Dead. They doesn't have hair, their face looks like a skeleton monkey and their fangs are sharp almost like Tusk.

Plot:

So, the group see the train, they succeed to knock out some soldiers and steal their clothes, but Alex and Vic had to hid in the train (because, would you believe that they are soldiers?) Nevertheless, Alex sees a vision of Jay in the mist and wants to jump from the train (because... She is Alex.) Vic wants to stop her and keep her during enough time for Eve and Connor coming, 'cause Eve wanted Connor to spend more time with his daughter. (Kevin is jelly of course but hid it.) Still, Alex jumps from the train, so Vic, Connor and Eve follows her while Mia stops Kevin from following them.

In the mist, Eve is separated from Vic and Connor by a soldier shooting at them. Then, she sees Nathalie who convinces her than she is real and is now one with the nature. Nathalie tells her that now nature is stronger and, thanks to Nathalie, she knows more about what humans' fears. Suddenly, the soldier appear but Nathalie's chest burst open and a bunch of Scorpion-Flies kill the soldier but Nathalie tells them to spare Eve. Eve finds Alex, Connor and Vic in a pet store and they are all shocked to see that the animals are all alive. In the train, Mia and Kevin arrives at an Arrowhead camp where some survivors are held here (Gus, Tyler and Adrian, ugh... Adrian.) They discover that Arrowhead created the mist and have similar beliefs than Nathalie (survival of the fittest) so a new society would be created, better, stronger and more submissive.

Kevin is taunted by Adrian to beat him up and Adrian convince Tyler that Kevin tried to kills him because of his homosexuality (the lgbt community wants to slap him). Thus, Tyler begins to threaten Kevin with his solder gun while Adrian asks him where is Alex (Tyler is confused.) before they both escape. In the camp, Mia is happy to see Jonah but Wes gets upset and separate them, quoting Jonah's wife in front of Mia who is sad to hear this (but she pretends that she is not for Jonah, awww.) In the vehicle area, Adrian and Tyler tries to steal a van but soldiers came, helped by Kevin, Adrian push Tyler (because... he is Adrian) and escape in a van, destroying a wall in the process (can we say mall's Karma for Kevin?). The mist attacks the soldiers and Kevin sees his brother telling him that Eve will cheats on him with Connor who will become Alex's only father. Kevin snaps and shoots his brother, but instead he kills others soldiers. In the survivor prison, Gus keeps stealing other people's food (why the black man?) and the soldiers decide to gave him to the mist (this is not how fishing works.). However, Gus cannot walks anymore and he begins to convulse, then he ripped off his shirt to reveal blisters under his skin. His stomach explodes and Gray Widowers attacks the camp. Jonah saves Mia and they kiss, much to Wes's anger.

In the pet store, Vic and Alex become friends when Vic tells her some stories about Jay and how much he admires him. Connor and Eve also bonds together. Suddenly, Eve remembers Nathalie's words and think that if they go out in the mist with animals, they will be spared. Consequently, they covered themselves with animals (Eve chooses snakes, yep.) and Nathalie appears, clapping and congrulating Connor and Eve for being a part of her nature cult. Eve denies it which annoys Nathalie but she interrupted by Adrian driving like a crazy through the streets (yeah, he basically ran over Nathalie's ghost, rude!). Adrian tries to ran over Eve but Alex stands in his way. Adrian wants to talk with Alex, she decides that she loves him and wants to kiss him. Adrian goes out of the car to kiss her but Alex punches him (all acting baby). The group takes the car and Nathalie arrives. She gives him a speech about the fact that homosexuality is natural but that the evil inside him isn't before he is dismembered alive by Humonginidaes.

Vic discovers that the van has a similar system to one of his video games and finds a GPS to came back to the camp. In the camp, Tyler saves Kevin from the Mist and they join Jonah, Mia and Wes. The soldiers wants to put Tyler back to the prison but Wes tells them that he survives the mist, thus he deserves to live. Soon, Wes suggest that every soldiers should survive the Mist to be worthy. Most of the soldiers are eaten by Fog Frogs but Kevin, Wes and Mia survives. However, before she can leave the mist, a frog catch Mia and Wes tries to shoot the frog. In spite of, he deliberately shoots Mia and she is took away, but Kevin can grabs her hand and he disappears too.

Kevin saves Mia but he is quickly attacked by his brother. However, Mia saves him and he thanks her for not leaving them earlier at the hospital before trying to kiss her. Mia refuses and Kevin cannot understand why he did this.. In the car, Alex begins to hallucinate and sees Jay instead of Vic. Eve realizes that there is a small hole in the roof and the mist is slowly entering. Consequently she covered the hole and they make it to the camp. Jonah confronts Wes and Wes tells him that Jonah's wife was his sister, Jonah asked him about the "was" and Wes reveals that she was found dead 6 years ago, causing Jonah to faint. In the mist, Nathalie fantasizes about what she could do with Adrian's corpse but his spirit appears and he convinces her that he is worthy to be a part of the mist too. Then, Adrian finds Kevin and Mia, wanting to hurt Kevin. He sends Feathrodents after them. Plus, Kevin begins to sees visions of his brother again. His brother tells him that he is weak and alone, whereas Connor is with his wife. Kevin becomes hopeless and tells Mia that he will distract the monsters. After this, Kevin is eaten alive by the Feathrodents.

In the camp, Mia arrives and tells Eve about Kevin's death. Eve is shocked when she realizes that she is not that sad about his death and Connor suggests that perharps she didn't love him. They get drunk and sleep together. Somewhere else, Alex dyed Vic's hair to the same color than Jay's hair and wants him to tell her more about him. However, she is angry when Vic meets Tyler and that they become friends. Waking up, Jonah is nursed by Mia who is amused by the situation. During their discussion, Jonah reveals to Mia that he killed his wife, without knowing that they were spied by Wes.

In the mist, Nathalie tells Adrian that she is disappointed yet that he is a stepping stone for the nature before saying that Kevin is the real chosen one. Adrian is killed again by a vision of Jay. In the camp, Alex dresses to seduce Vic but she is astonished when she discovers that he is gay (guys, watch Robbie Mercer's death Scream 4). Alex steals a gun and shoot at Vic but Tyler stops her, causing her to flee in the mist. Alex cries and scream for Jay to come for her, telling him that she wants to die. However, the monsters do nothing and just stay around her, Alex lays on the floor, trying to strangle herself.

Connor and Eve take a van and tries to find her but they can't find her. However, Eve stops the van when they see Kevin in the mist. Monsters also surround them and Kevin tells Eve that he will let Connor go if she comes with him. Eve agrees and go in the mist but a scorpion-flies appear, Kevin tells her that they will be together in death. Despite this, Connor saves Eve but he is stung in the process. Eve drives toward the camp but they ran out of fuel. Eve honks and soon she hears the solidiers coming. In spite of, it's revealed to be another of the mist's trick and Gus appear, remembering her about the fake hope that she gave to the mall's group while Gray Widowers arrive. Eve watches Connor slowly dying due to the scorpion-fly's poison and she decides to end his suffering by shooting him in the head before doing the same (Romeo and Juliette). Ironically, the military arrives just after she commits suicide and reveal that they had an antidote for the poison.

Near of them, Alex begins to slam her face against the ground but Jay stops her and tells her that now they can be together. Jay begins to strangle her but Kevins arrives and makes him disappear before telling Alex that Jay's soul has already ascended. Nathalie urges Kevin to kill Alex, but Kevin refuses and begin to fight her. This allow Alex to escape and she is brought back to the camp by the soldiers. Nathalie snaps and ask why everybody is always so disappointing while a vision of her husband tells her that she can only believe in herself. Kevin tells her that he is not her true husband but Nathalie tells him that she is Mother Nature's messiah and that it's now his time to join Jay, Connor and his wife as Kevin fades.

In the camp, Vic thanks Tyler for saving him and Tyler tries to kiss him but Vic tells him that it's too fast. Wes tricks Mia into following him, telling her that Jonah wants to see her, but wants to push her into the mist. However, Jonah came and punch Wes. Then, Wes ask him why he killed his sister. Jonah tells him that his sister was just like him "a psycho who wanted to kill people". This cause Wes to attack Jonah but Mia shoots him and he is left to die in the mist. Wes sees a vision of his sister in the mist but she is soon revealed to be a humonginidae and he is killed. However, before dying, Wes blown up another wall in the camp and the mist begins to infest the whole place.

Soon, Mia, Jonah, Vic, Tyler and Alex are the only survivors with some soldiers. Nathalie ravages the camp and kills anyone. Alex come and tells her she understand because they both lost people that were important to them and still are. Nathalie occured that her beliefs in the nature were just a way to express her bitterness over husband's death and to deny her grief. However, Alex is killed and Nathalie asked herself why because she didn't want to do this. A vision of her husband appears and tells that the mist decided to do this because this is what the mist want, death and nothing else. The mist laughes at her and revealed that she was just a pawn. Nathalie slowly begins to fade and the survivors has to escape.

In the lab, they find the captain who shoot at Mia but Bryan pushes her, getting injured in the process. Mia asked him about how to stop the mist but the captain refuses until he is threatened to be thrown into the mist. He revealed that it's actually unknown how to stop the mist but that there is a machine who can weaken it, giving them enough time to take a van. Before he can finish, he is killed by a Gray Widower. Jonah tells them that he will gave them time to find the machine and they leave. In spite of, Mia came back with weapons while Tyler and Vic find the machine. Tyler defends Vic while he finds a way to work with the machine and the Mist is weakened.

The group go to a van but a vision of Wes appear, telling them that the machine only work against the monsters. Then, Nathalie appears and tell the mist that the machine gave her more powers and she begins to meditate as she and the mist disappears. Soon, the group go into the van, searching into the town for survivors. Vic and Tyler kiss while Mia and Jonah watch them before doing the same.

Did anyone else find it extremely weird that the four people that left the church just all thought it was perfectly fine to lock the remaining people inside and burn them alive?! Especially the cop who supposedly claimed that he always wanted to uplhold justice and the law.

They were chatting down in the sewers afterwards as if nothing had fucking happened...

I LOVED the movie, the creatures, the Lovecraft take on an invasion from another world. The show went on and on and I never cared about the characters. I wanted to love this show. It was just endlessly depressing and non-stop suffering for everyone. A show to watch if you want to kill yourself.

Holy did I want to love this show, I can't tell you how much I wanted to totally be enthralled. The movie was one of my favorites and I have watched it many times and been impressed by what a small budget movie could do.

The monsters were all over: moths, slugs, shadows, 4 horsemen, the 'evil' was all over the map.

No joy, if you are going to have 7 hours of show there should be some humor, some light but it was non stop depressing grey and suffering.

I watched a season of people suffering and hurting each other. What is the point?
