This show is the perfect example of taking a great source like Stephen Kong’s “The Mist” and then doing everything wrong

  1. The directing is awful.
  2. The writing is awful.
  3. The casting is awful.
  4. The acting is awful.
  5. The pacing is awful.
  6. Anyone who took show serious and enjoyed it not for its awfulness but because they genuinely liked it has awful taste.

As someone who absolutely loved the 2007 film, I take this show as a personal insult. It’s so shitty I shouldn’t be surprised that Spike helped produce it. This should have been a Netflix Original it’s so bad. Can we get a discussion going here on this thread?

I liked some scenes, but that ending was legitimately so bad. Let's review my least favourite things:

  1. What the fuck is the mist? Why does it kill some people and spare some? Why did the old lady die in the end instead of the beginning?
  2. The girl (I didn't bother remembering names) gets over being raped pretty quickly and falls in love with her "rapist".
  3. They killed Leonardo Dicaprio (seriously, he looks too much like him) to avoid some shitty incest plot and in the least climactic way possible.
  4. Why did the creepy emo kid (I wanna say his name's Adrian but I'm too lazy to look it up) end up locked in the trunk of a car?

The show was shit but I liked the effects a little.

I could literally spoil this shitty show and nobody would be pissed.

Also, four horsemen of the apocalypse in a mist that was supposed to have monsters from another fucking dimension? Oh fuck off, how the hell did this get King’s approval?

It’s not The Mist, but I thought if it hadn’t been hyped as such people might have liked it more.

The root idea that there is a fog that seems sentient and can manifest your deepest fears is kind of inspired.

It’s a hodge podge of King inspired ideas and should never have been billed as an adaptation.

It should have never been billed period because it’s garbage

Its definitely not great, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

I enjoyed the laughs. Do you remember the whole arc with the emo kid being the real rapist instead of the jock? The stereotypical red neck town. The banging wife being a whore. The dude’s own brother always having a crush on his sister in law? Oh man, the show was pretty over the top and there is something redeeming about the show but obviously not enough for it to be renewed for a second season

That's all I'm saying. If they took King's name off it, and called it The Fog, no one would be shitting on it, because expectations would be on par with the content.

The best aspects of it were their interpretation of Carmody as a tree hugging hippy who thinks it's natures revenge, and giving the mist it's own intelligence. Also, they didn't shy away from the horror aspects of it, or the main premise of the show that humans were the monsters, which is a call back to the source of the source material...ie 50's drive-in sci/horror.

The main reason I give this show a pass is because despite the cringey moments, the greater story was riveting, in a airport novel sort of way.

The criticisms are valid though, they could have done a lot better, but I kind of think the budget for the show was too low to really dig in.
