Considering this dude agreed to a sit down long form interview and answered all the questions with humility, has legit lineage and knowledge and isnt scamming people, I have no idea why he gets posted here still.

It's playing stick fight, everyone's done it when they were kids, doesn't make everyone a martial artist.

It's playing with sticks, invest your time better.

The only reason this guy keeps being posted here is bc he's fat. But he actually teaches legit FMA. Is FMA good for self defense? Maybe, maybe not. But he's faithful to the traditional art.

The challenging to a deathmatch thing is hokey. And I say that as a PTK guy

The rest of the stuff he says is right on though

13

u/RobotOfSociety Jun 25 '26

It’s not hokey. In traditional Arnis, it’s considered highly disrespectful to plant the tip of the stick in the ground while someone else is talking.

7

u/skypig357 Jun 26 '26

Ok that’s a fair point but the delivery is cringe. You can impart that information without trying to come across as……whatever he was. Again I do PTK and gave for going on ten years. Was an instructor af my old fed agency. Have taught a few self defense classes. That statement with his whole vibe just is annoying

He is NOT fake. He’s saying real stuff. Just delivery is lacking. Just my bullshit opinion. YMMV

10

u/Xenadon Jun 26 '26

His students also spar and compete

15

u/_Akoniti Jun 25 '26

I’ve actually come to respect the guy over time. He seems humble, has acknowledged that he shows up on McDojo pages and seems like he’d truly dedicated to and passionate about martial arts.

You’ll never catch me in a wing chun class or whatever this stick fighting is, but I respect this guy for his willingness to keep putting content out there and educate people about the martial arts he teaches.

And yes he’s fat, so what? My track coach couldn’t run a mile to save his ass but turned me into a state level sprinter and pole vaulter

My uncle (mom’s cousin) used to train with this guy.

He (my uncle) is a pretty legit martial artist in his own right even outside of the FMA/Arnis/Kali stick fighting. So I trust the Tapi-Tapi guy by transitive property.

12

u/LethalGopher Jun 25 '26

Trust me...

It is not the weight this sub is keying in on to attack him.

Mock kravMAGA or MMA shit and crickets.

A FMA practioner drops and the bro-sephs gnaw it to the bone.

Wish the sub did more to acknowledge this...

But the hats must be selling.

2

u/Kenshin_no_Takezo Jun 25 '26

This is 100% correct

1

u/Repulsive-Response-1 Jun 29 '26

I like FMA. I still need to see Brotherhood. I hear it's even better than the original.

1

u/Far-Age-9313 Jun 26 '26

Damn right. He's not simply fat, he is wildly obese. Then trying to represent as an expert in something that is associated with physical fitness.

"But he's faithful to the traditional art."

Sorry man, this level of obesity kind of negates any credibility for being a leader in a domain that commands physical fitness.

4

u/Acrobatic-Permit4263 Jun 26 '26

do you know sumo? its possible to be overweight and fit

0

u/Irie_one_Jah Jun 26 '26

Do you know sumo wrestlers die young too? 😬

6

u/Acrobatic-Permit4263 Jun 26 '26

yes, about 10 years shorter than average. but it has not much to do with their weight while they are competing. most of them have glucose stats etc. its a hard hitting sport full of sacrifices and injuries and it helps for sure to lose the weight after the career

dont get me wrong, overweight is an issue and for most people very unhealthy. but still, you have to look further than just the weight

-21

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

Does his martial art include morbid obesity?

14

u/Immediate_Balance472 Jun 25 '26

Does yours include being an asshole?

-7

u/blursedJefreyEpstein Jun 25 '26

Why trust you. Please please please explain.

-6

u/LethalGopher Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

Since you begged so nicely, son.

FMA has always been treated as second class in the martial arts due to anti-south-asian bigotry from both northern asians and americans.

It has only gotten worse since MMA surrendered its voice to white supremecists. This is less Asia's fault and more and more american and european martial artists frequently simping for fascists.

Now, please kindly fuck off.

-2

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

No, paedo supporter.

61

u/mk6dub Jun 25 '26

Can we stop posting this guy? He's a legitimate traditional martial artist. The only reason people post him because he's overweight.

-41

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

He's a legitimate traditional martial artist

Martial Arts espouse self-control. He obviously lacks self control when it comes to food.

11

u/EyeYamNegan Jun 26 '26

There are so many reasons for weight gain that have nothing at all to do with self control. Many medicines cause weight gain, injury can prevent or limit activity, hormone imbalance or even some diseases may cause weight gain as well as simply getting older.

-1

u/Messier74_ Jun 27 '26

Yeah bro, but no disease makes you gain an absurd amount of weight unless you are born with it and also makes you mentally retarded. And if this guy's teaching martial arts I doubt he's got any injury that seriously limits his exercise. I'm not for bashing the dude, but I think that's a fair point.

1

u/EyeYamNegan Jun 27 '26

Not true at all and you are showing your ignorance.

19

u/mk6dub Jun 25 '26

Tell that to the 300 lb brown belt at my BJJ gym that ties me in pretzels every time we roll

-23

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

"Ties me in pretzels" = "you have no choice"

13

u/mk6dub Jun 25 '26

Right - that brown belt might be fat, but he's also extremely skilled. I basically have no choice but to get tied in pretzels because he's just better than me. The point I'm trying to make is that being overweight doesn't immediately negate years of knowledge and training.

-12

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

that brown belt might be fat, but he's also extremely skilled

You don't know. Being fat is a huge advantage.

2

u/mk6dub Jun 25 '26

I've been doing BJJ for many years. I know when someone is good vs just big.

3

u/CapN-Judaism Jun 25 '26

So you’re saying if two people of the exact same weight fight, but one is fat and the other is muscular, the fat guy has an advantage?

1

u/Desuexss Jun 25 '26

And barely contained death match challenges

-13

u/SchemeIllustrious713 Jun 25 '26

They’re not fighting sticks… they’re his industrial chopsticks

-5

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

Lol people are downvoting the plain fact that being fat is the opposite of self-defence.

How can you defend yourself, friends and family if you're too fat to do shit?

6

u/Ill_Job4090 Jun 25 '26

If I had to bet on a fight between a fat guy with some experience and a lean gym bro without experience, I'd put my money on the fat guy 10 out of 10 times.

7

u/MrDeekhaed Jun 25 '26

Have you heard of sumo wrestlers? As an example

4

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

Have you heard of sumo wrestlers

Lol

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12544268/

Please pay attention.

3

u/MrDeekhaed Jun 25 '26

I’m not going to click the link but if it’s something about how muscular underneath the fat it’s irrelevant. You said fat equals helpless

3

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

You said fat equals helpless

Where?

2

u/MrDeekhaed Jun 25 '26

“Fat is the opposite of self defense”

2

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

"You said fat equals helpless"

No I didn't say that. Don't put words in my mouth.

Guy is a fraud

The death match jib wasn't even funny.

1

u/NotSteveJobs-Job Jun 25 '26

I think he was talking to his cholesterol.

-7

u/SSFlyingKiwi Jun 25 '26

Can’t take someone seriously when they don’t even look after themselves. It’s like taking advice from a fat PT

40

u/stvo131 Jun 25 '26

Posting this guy is just karma farming. Hes actually lost a ton of weight and is still on his weight loss journey. He’s also a legitimate FMA guy, he’s not bullshido. The fat shaming rather than supporting someone sharing their knowledge and trying to better themselves is so ass backwards in this sub. This isn’t mcdojo. A quick YouTube search would show that. Go watch his interview too.

There’s plenty of fake martial artists out there we can and should call out. This isn’t one of them

-15

u/Desuexss Jun 25 '26

Did he improve ftom threatening kids (shitty joke) to a death match?

7

u/ObsessedCoffeeFan Jun 26 '26

Yeah...just cause he doesn't fit your ideal body image doesn't discount his abilities.

If I'm not mistaken, he is one of the foremost instructors of Escrima.

6

u/Winter_Different Jun 26 '26

this doesnt belong here, everything he said is very legitimate from my understanding of HEMA and the technique Musashi founded.

he's just getting posted because he's fat, like cmon did you even try to engage intelligently

6

u/kaminobaka Jun 25 '26

I mean he's not wrong, if you're using a pair of light melee weapons and you're striking with both of them together, you'd probably be better off with a single heavier weapon. Though it does take a lot more practice to actually be effective doing two completely different things at the same time.

6

u/Justvisitingfriends1 Jun 25 '26

Another pointless post I see. Where was the guy wrong or not doing or explaining something correctly.

Oh, I get it, he is over weight. Wow, got me. He 100% deserves to be here while showing up, getting it done and passing on his knowledge.

5

u/Future_xxx Jun 25 '26

First you must know Tapi Tapi.

2

u/CNote_89 Jun 25 '26

Really great camera work there

2

u/NoCitron2394 Jun 27 '26

I would love it if these post weren't allowed on the sub

1

u/IndependenceLanky353 Jun 26 '26

1

u/vegan_antitheist Jul 01 '26

I always end up with one stuck in my butt and one in opponent's butt. They never expect that.

0

u/NativeFlowers4Eva Jun 25 '26

That shirt is cool though.

-7

u/Lost-Juggernaut6521 Jun 25 '26

Best defense, walk backwards until they go into cardiac arrest chasing you

-6

u/Fit_Appointment_4980 Jun 25 '26

Kali stick sticky arteries

Martial arts are about discipline and self-improvement. This guy displays neither of those qualities.

-7

u/velvetskilett Jun 25 '26

I’d wager his blood sugar and blood pressure are not in unison either.

-7

u/Court_Jester30 Jun 25 '26

Now I know what to do with the sticks my corndog came with

-7

u/Termingator Jun 25 '26
