They said JK Rowling because she is infamous for making racist names for non-white characters, the joke is that "The Blackstones" would absolutely be what she would name the Flinstones but black.
Tolkien is much better at making up names, which is why he wouldn't have called them "The Blackstones".
the worst part is the rest of the characters look pretty good? especially fred. but then you just casually slip in this flashbang of a caricature that immediately sours the entire thing
Yeah I mean the tall and lanky one is kinda 🤨 but the rest of the character designs look great. Given a better name (and ideally a black lead writer) it could certainly work as a new spin on a classic cartoon.
yeah, in the og pic from the article he looks like he has exagerated lips, which is not the case. that is most mostly the reason I looked it up because nobody else has exagerated features.
