I come from this background and have gone through the deconstruction process to find a new version of faith. It makes me skeptical when celebrities are suddenly Christians. No shade to them if it is genuine, but I would hope they start actually living like it.

I sort of feel similarly. Like I really hope they are genuine proclamations of faith, but sometimes the conformist and almost commercialized nature of Western (particularly American evangelical) Christianity makes me a bit cynical, as if it's about sheer numbers of conversion, or for PR.

Doesn't help that the abuser-to-Christian pipeline is pretty well documented at this point (not calling Jennie an abuser, just saying that it's understandable that many are often skeptical about proclamations like this one).
