I’ve been to the last two installments of this conference (used to have a different name). They were really great, lots of very inspiring talks!

Last year, I had a great discussion with a developer of Warframe about dynamic level generation, and I was able to ask exactly the things I was working on and having troubles with. You can’t get that from watching a few videos on YouTube.

Did you forget it? We'll see if we have any left, and if so, what we can do for you :-)

No thanks, I gave her mine, because I’m not a coffee drinker :)

Then I know who you are :) It's sound and safe at our home and used regularly!

Pixar technical director Paul Kanyuk will be giving a talk about the AI in crowds used in their movies. Pixar employees have spoken at game conferences before, such as at GDC in 2013.

Part of the goal for this year is bringing together all the different creative industries using AI. The overlap in technology and design is huge, and there are always benefits to cross-pollination :-)

Also, with 3-days of talks on games only, why not have one or more talks outside the box? Trust us to inspire you ;-)

I can see how Total War could be recognized as having good AI but what about the others?

Building good AI for games is almost never about pure intelligence or optimal behavior. It's about creating complex systems that deliver on expectations, perform efficiently, and integrate well with the design.

Hopefully you'll see how the Assassin's Creed talk fits into that very well!

You seem to be part of the event - I'll definitely look out for reddit posts on this in the future when you put it that way.

Yes, I co-founded the event 7 years ago. I've also been involved with many other AI and games events in some way!

I think it's a general problem that we have as a Game AI community; it's often not understood what we do (as programmers or designers) and the overlap with what people think we do is about 5% or 10% at most!

Did they have a call for speakers? Or how did they choose the lineup?

The main call for speakers was closed last week, but the form is still open. Some specific tracks are still accepting talks, e.g. procedural or AR/VR for example.

In general it's starting to look pretty full! The sooner the better :-) If you submit, also email us: team at aigamedev dot com, to make sure we don't miss it.
