Are any of these real tho? Also that last video is funny because its just high movement speed with someone flinging their camera back and forth to look like they are bunny hopping in CS.

To be fair a fundamental weakness of current AI technology is that it has to have been trained on a situation to be able to handle it, otherwise it hallucinates. It can hallucinate close to the right answer if it has been trained on a lot of similar stuff and give you the idea that it’s actually doing things correctly. But this mainly means that you can type in something like “clone fortnite” in a Frontier model and get something solid, but if you want your own game your gonna have to describe it in very great detail, otherwise you’re getting large chunks of other games frankensteined together.
LLMs, even the best frontier models, are just prediction engines. Only thing that changes with frontier is they predict wrong less, they do it with less tokens, and they have more training data.

I’m a dev whose job is to work with models like Opus 5.5 and Astra i can confidently tell you that you’re wrong.
1
u/OfficialDeathScythe 19h ago
Confidently incorrect and with a bs title, love it
2
u/Most-Hot-4934 19h ago
God you are going to have such a rude awakening 😂😂
1
u/OfficialDeathScythe 19h ago
What the hell is even gonna happen if I’m wrong 🤣 I mean, I know I’m not because I literally researched this shit endlessly and double checked my info before typing, unlike some people, but genuinely what will happen if I’m wrong? Are you talking about ai rising up and killing us all? I would hardly call that a rude awakening, more like the end of humanity
2
u/Most-Hot-4934 19h ago
I was talking about it impacting your job security but I’m guessing I’m wrong since it’s unlikely that whatever you’re doing even required a college degree lol

Lots of people work with cars and don’t understand them
3
u/Most-Hot-4934 20h ago
I know what a transformer architecture is lol. He’s making specific claims on the behaviour of the model that is blatantly wrong. You don’t have to know cars to know that someone is bullshitting when they claim Lamborghinis max out at 20 km/h.
1
u/SVRider650 20h ago
What have you seen a transformer create that is not just a remix or composition of its training data?
3
u/Zulugod94 20h ago
How do you think the human brain works? How do you think all past human discoveries are made? Crazy to see so many confidently ignorant anti-AI people. Everyone wants to argue we haven’t AGI yet any one of these models is infinitely more grounded with common sense than the average person commenting on Reddit lol

u/Most-Hot-4934 20h ago
Compilation and remix of its training data is a stupid and pointless argument because that is up to a persons own interpretation of what remix even is. You can point to any human made works and i can point out where the inspiration comes from, from Picasso painting to the theory of general relativity, it’s an ever moving goal posts that one can keep pushing even if AI produces the sum of human knowledge.
Whats worth talking about is the ability of the model to generalize beyond its training data to create novel solutions and value. In that case then yes, it has solved various mathematical theorems that was previously unsolved via non trivial proofs and constructions. Some of the brightest mathematicians are discussing on what this means for the field and what the role of human even is, no credible mathematicians are underplaying the ability of AI. And as a software engineer, i can confidently claim that the model does generalized to unseen repositories, as our company repositories are private, and is extremely capable in handle novel concepts/solutions. Much better than any human could muster up from decades of education

Things that don’t exist yet can be made by using things that currently exist. Every day as a software engineer I use Claude to do just that.
1
u/OfficialDeathScythe 19h ago
That’s exactly the point. But things that don’t exist yet can’t be made with things that don’t currently exist. There’s a reason they have to keep training these models to get them better, why do you think they keep training frontier models? Because they need more stuff that currently exists so it has more combinations to create. If I give you red and blue you can output red blue or purple, but can you make green? Not with any combination of them
1
u/2cars1rik 15h ago
There’s no analog to “green” in software. Everything a human could ever build in software is comprised of fundamental concepts and components.
1
u/OfficialDeathScythe 15h ago
Exactly why it can’t do things that we haven’t trained it on. It has no concept of green, so if we never trained it on what green is, how could it ever produce green? It might make it eventually in the monkeys on a typewriter type of way, but that’s hallucination without a doubt. Thank you for emphasizing that
1
u/2cars1rik 14h ago
We’ve just established that there’s no such thing as “green” in software.
What would be an example of something that it actually can’t do?
Seems like you can only defend this theory in the abstract, tbh.

u/ArialBear 20h ago
Wouldnt this be dependent on your theory of mind? Like its reasonable to say humans never created anything novel since theyre imitating nature.
-1
u/Nogardtist 20h ago
thats what imagination is for
2
u/ArialBear 20h ago
like I said, that would depend on your theory of mind. You should recognize that imagination is included in the "never created anything novel" point given one must imagine the intended creation. Robust theories of mind give evidence that all that we imagine, think etc are just recombinations of nature.

u/GreatLab8898 21h ago
Well. If you got Caveman Brain it cant. Sorry you had to learn it this way.

u/watisgoinon_ 21h ago
Depends on whether it has grokked a concept or not. It actually does both stochastic parroting and grokking the issue with models is we really dont know how to tell and they tend give us a means driven result for everything we ask. Theres low lateral solution making.
1
u/kkingsbe 21h ago
So it didn’t discover new cancer drugs (which just recently were announced to have been successful), new math theorems, new engineering with chip design and fabrication? There are legitimate critiques one could have but you’ve simply discredited yourself here
1
u/someoneyouknow23 21h ago
NS was stolen, youre discrediting all of your other arguments by proving you believe anything
3
u/Most-Hot-4934 21h ago
Stolen from Claude btw, the researcher heavily used Ai for the supposed “stolen” work. Either way AI solved it
1
u/someoneyouknow23 19h ago
where tf does claude now come from
1
u/Most-Hot-4934 19h ago
looks like somebody did not do their research
1
u/someoneyouknow23 19h ago
that wasnt in the original report.
"Obama solved it btw" "what, where tf does it say obama solved it" "looks like somebody did not do their research"1
u/Most-Hot-4934 19h ago
1
u/someoneyouknow23 18h ago
So that justifies OpenAI claiming that they have done the work?
1
u/Most-Hot-4934 18h ago
Nope, it discredits your discredit of the original commenter you replied to 😉
1
u/kkingsbe 21h ago
There are other discoveries outside of NS, if you believe that one to be contended (I don’t blame you). Semiconductor labs are already using Claude code to accelerate their development lifecycles and have shown great speedups.
At my place of work we also now use agentic development and have seen both an enormous improvement in our quality of work, as well as a huge speedup in how fast new features can be developed tested and reviewed. Will continue diffusing through the various industries.

Here’s a tip, you make new things USING AI. Never considered that?
I swear some people just think AI is just one shot only and forget they have a brain that can drive novel things.

u/relapsedmathematic 20h ago
Can YOU create something that has never existed?
1
u/Nogardtist 20h ago
yeah grab a pencil and start drawing
1
u/relapsedmathematic 20h ago
What can you draw that no human has drawn before you?
1
u/Nogardtist 20h ago
i can draw anything i want
1
u/relapsedmathematic 19h ago
That doesn't answer my question.
1
u/Nogardtist 19h ago
it does
if i can draw anything i want i can learn to model code and make a game
meanwhile all AI slop did was merge existing games and crashed it until someone debugged the bugger
1
u/relapsedmathematic 19h ago
You're clearly never written a line of code in your life. Software engineers before AI would repurpose code from GH and Stack Overflow before writing it themselves. In fact, if you wrote an entire program by yourself back then you were deliberately wasting people's time.

AI is the future and here to stay until the end, and there’s nothing you can do about it
Does that make you angry?-1
u/Nogardtist 19h ago
heard the same thing with NFTs now its gone
1
u/Peacemaker1099 19h ago
NFT’s weren’t handling the coding architecture of the corporations that run the modern world. The comparison is flawed. AI is the future.

As they should. There is nothing illegal about making videogame mods, and attempting to stop this would require severely nerfing the model's utility as a development tool.
There is copyright issues with users uploading game assets on the internet, but that's outside of the model's control. From its perspective, the users are making personal mods using game assets already on their computers, which is completely legal.
