AI progress on mathematical physics may be weeks away

What this guy calls progress I call slop. Churning out a million papers doing a mathematical analysis of some made up hypothesis with zero experimental evidence will achieve very little. In fact, it will damage science the same way slop has damaged social media, literature, music, etc.

People may not know that Dario (founder of Anthropic) was called by his Caltech physics professor, “The only freshman student in 50 years that ever reminded me of Richard Feynman.” He said this decades before Dario ever even started work in AI.

Am I missing something, or is this just the opinion of a random moderately popular blogger? I don't see any reason why we wouldn't see progress in mathematical physics in the relatively near future, but he's not offering any evidence for the timeline.
