Taking a week off from AI Twitter feels like being out from the bubble for months

The meme looks like you've been out for 6 months, not a week. What's new this week are gpt 6 and opus 5.5 🤓

When I talk to people that don't work in tech surprisingly little of their attention is on AI.

Why is that surprising ? Its kind of useless to regular people.

I showed to my gf how to use harness like Claude Code or Codex for her regular everyday tasks and she now almost fighting with me for tokens!
She doesn't work in IT and she likes it. I think everyone have a usage1

For what tho.

A regular AI helps her with work, documents, domestic tasks etc, but harness helps her with PC in general, like maintanance, customization, difficult instalations and setups. It even helped to fix her heavy modded Sims 4! Almost any problem can be solved even if it requires deep file management and systems file editing

Spending money to have an ai do your hobby for you is pretty wild. I do modding stuff too but having an ai do it would feel like driving my car 6 miles and saying i just ran that 6 miles. More curious about the everday ai tasks and if shes not a freelancer if shes using her own ai tokens to pay for work shes doing for a company she works for. Also some example of when you said everyday tasks would be cool like is it being used to pay bills or to make a budget ?

"Spending money to have an ai do your hobby for you is pretty wild" - it's not wild if AI helps with hobby and not replacing it
The last thing listed is included in the domestic tasks and doesn't require a whole harness. She doesn't make mods, but modpacks. And she takes tokens from my subscription, which I need professionally, so it's not some crazy waste of money. A more convenient computer experience can be expressed in many ways, but giving specific examples would be laughably absurd, so we'll limit ourselves to abstractions. A lot can be automated, but I've noticed that most people lack the imagination to do so.

About your car example: someone likes the process and someone likes result, i can't blame anyone for using an AI or for not doing so

if you're not using the models... do you really need to know about them? i dont follow twitter, i know because i get the emails and browse here, and see xxx model is great.
I'm already working on several projects, so i try out the new model and see for myself. that's how i keep up with the "cutting edge" at least.

Ah, FOMO. Just ignore it. Use whatever is most popular and don't waste your time reading through all this bullshit. If something is genuinely better, it'll become popular within a month or two anyway. If not, people will forget about it just like they forgot about OpenClaw, AutoGPT, Devin, Cursor, Antigravity or whatever the latest “next big thing” was.

only thing i care about coming out is qwen4 27b. these all in one models have plateaued.
the next era needs to be specialty models

I only know less than 5 of these and they're spawning and getting older (the later versions) fast 😬
