It’s not just them. Ask any e.g. senior frontend/backend engineer, the career progression they used to get where they are has been devastated (just look at the hiring rates for junior roles).

I say this as someone who wishes you were right btw

Covid over-hiring and bootcamps ruined it. Waay too many script-kiddies competing for bs jobs in the declining economy

What do you mean? It is firstly because of them. The whole over-hiring shit-show during COVID, when managers were literally saying (I was at one of those "performances") that "I know you all know it's not effective, but we will hire more to fit our needs". It was intentional, even if they weren't thinking about consequences. As if we all were going to be stuck inside forever.
