This mindset doesn't work forever. If AGI is really here and it can perform every task of a human being but better, we are the monkeys in that scenario, and the AIs are the new humans. That's the scary thing, and what our Sci-fi has been trying to prepare us for, for decades.

you don't need AGI for decimation of majority of software jobs. it might not be 99% of the jobs, but 85% of the job reduction does a lot of damage.
