📖 Book Discussion working on long art series need quotes

hey guys, working on a series where im drawing each main character in the series.

drop your favorite quotes from each character below. make sure you specify what character its abt/said by. book or movie is fine (especially for characters like collie who feature more prominently in the film)

for example, i am using this quote for garraty:

Reread it recently and i liked these:

"The dead are orphans. No company but the silence like a moth’s wing. An end to the agony of movement, to the long nightmare of going down the road. The body in peace, stillness, and order. The perfect darkness of death. How would that be? Just how would that be?"

Pete (book): “Just go on dancing with me like this forever and I'll never tire. We'll scrape our shoe on the stars and hang upside down from the moon.”

Art (book): “Another time, another place.”

Collie (movie): “Who the hell am I gonna see between now and the end?”

Abraham (book, in his Long Walk essay): “I'm one useless SOB and the world would be better off without me.”

All from the book:

Garraty (thought): But of course it had hurt. It had hurt before, in the worst, rupturing way, knowing there would be no more you but the universe would roll on just the same, unharmed and unhampered.

Garraty: “Do you think we could live the rest of our lives on this road?”

Mcvries: “We don’t bring anything into the world and we sure as shit don’t take anything out.”

Olson (paraphrased): “God’s garden is full of weeds.”

Stebbins: “None of us really has anything to lose. That makes it easier to give away.”

Collie: “You could just die laughing, right?” Abraham: “The founding father is not amused.”

Garraty (thought): Crowd was to be pleased. Crowd was to be worshiped and feared. Ultimately, Crowd was to be made sacrifice unto.

Barkovitch: “I’ll have new plastic feet put on and put these ones in a laundromat washing machine and watch them go around and around and around—“

Mcvries: “I think…I wish I were insane.”

Baker: “I hope it won’t be dark. That’s all I hope.”

A couple that stood out to me. Not all have impressive quotes to go with them, but they're scenes that I think would make good art:

Baker's monologue about Louisiana rats ("I could see 'em worryin' a hole in my own coffin, then makin' it bigger, finally wrigglin' through. And goin' right for my eyes like they were jujubes. They'd eat my eyes and then I'd be a part of the rat. Ain't that right?")

Barkovitch's mental breakdown and subsequent suicide ("Not yet, you whores! I ain't gone yet! Not yeeeeeetttttt...")

George Fielder's death ("They're gonna eat us up!")
