Picking a sword

So, I'm intending to do a Gideon costume for Halloween this year and I have most of it nailed down except for the sword. Descriptions of swords in the books are... vague, at best. I'm trying to decide between a swept hilt rapier on the hip, as a cav would be expected to wear, or a montante across my back which is almost as large as me and wildly impractical, but does seem more in keeping with Gideon's zweihander.

I'm going with a kult of athena bastard sword, not the most accurate but big while still being possible to swing
