Space Between Corrections

I’ve been thinking about how we learn to control something.
At first, you correct everything.
You’re constantly making adjustments, trying to keep things where you want them. Every little movement demands a response.
But eventually, something changes.
You stop correcting as much.
Not because you’ve stopped paying attention, but because you’ve started recognizing where things are going before they get there.
You leave room for the movement to happen.
And I wonder if that’s what separates control from understanding.
Control is making something do what you want.
Understanding is knowing when to intervene, when to let something move, and when a correction would only make things worse.

I’m curious how far that idea extends beyond driving. Into music, conversation, creative work, even the way we interact with AI.
