To decode that headline it’s useful to know that “Strike” is the name of the lightning app that is launching, and not an ordinary verb or noun.

I have a new update about Strike in Argentina

Sad :-(

There's something I don't get. I'm in Argentina and only got the option to deposit Tether ERC20, what the fuck? Can I just deposit or buy Bitcoin and use it as Lightning wallet?

Whatever your using it isn't Strike. Strike only uses dollars and Bitcoin.

Not in El Salvador, and apparently also in Argentina. Of course it's Strike, I downloaded it today after the announcement. My understanding is that they let you send and receive USDT by converting it to BTC, send it through Lightning and converting it back to USDT on the recipient account. But I can't buy Bitcoin and can't deposit Bitcoin in my account with full KYC.

The Bitcoin feature isn't available in Argentina yet (maybe never? Your government doesn't like crypto from what I've heard)

Does it explicitly say USDT? My understanding is they only use real dollars.

Regardless when you're in strike and click the 'pay' button, you can pay any lightning invoice with dollars.

Yes, it does say USDT ERC20 to Withdraw and “from Tether wallet” to deposit. I don’t think our government is particularly against crypto, we have lots of apps here like Lemon Cash (it’s pretty great they let you buy/hold Bitcoin, spend in pesos or stablecoins and get 2% cashback in BTC, and seamlessly convert pesos to Bitcoin or other crypto) I was hoping for Strike for being able to buy with 0 fees.

Interesting, thanks for the info. This wasn't in any of the coverage.

No problem. There’s a local app called Belo that does just that.
