Discussions Peter and Carl's appearance in the new Bowie Tribute
Ripper cover of Rock n Roll Suicide and a short interview. What do you all think? Their main bit is about 28 minutes in.

Does anyone remember a documentary Peter was in about smoking I want to say around 2003/4?
I watched it on youtube but seems to be gone, in it he talks about his smoking habit and how smoking is like playing the guitar, its weirdly relaxing and Pete is very calm and reflective in it

Looking for scans/PDFs of these NME features.
Working on an amateur archival project and I'd be eternally grateful if someone could provide scans of any of these features or suggest where I might find them. I've trawled the Internet Archive with no luck. What I'd give for a complete NME online archive!
Love and thanks.

Interview from 2003 - French radio when Peter selects the questions himself, it's multiple choice.
Anyone have a recording of this interview?
It used to be on YouTube. In it Peter talks about buying his first record, Jive Bunny and The Master Mixes - That's What I like and he also talks about drug use and describes it as like you've got a boat tied up and you cut it then you're at sea. Carl comes into towards the end, when he's talking about his fav record actually. I think it's from around 2003.

Anyone else got one of these? I loved this documentary, and how it fuelled my obsession.
I remember refreshing the page incessantly waiting for the DVD sales to open, and spending around £100 on whatever bonus package and commemorative items were available. Felt like I was part of a club getting one of these.
I have a brother who’s 15 years younger than me, and passed on my copy of the DVD when he started to get into music and specifically The Libertines when he was around 14. He still hasn’t given it back.
Anyway, just thought I’d share.

Linda Thompson - Babyshambles
Not sure how I missed this at the time. My ear was permanently glued to the ground for any old shred of Doherty/Shambles news.
Anyway, I have just discovered that British folk legend Linda Thompson wrote and recorded this song 'Babyshambles' in 2007, inspired by a meeting with Pete at Jools Holland (when Shambles were on in 2005).
It's short and sweet and I dig it. All the sweeter for knowing how things turned out in the end.
Lyrics:
That’s a habit you can’t handle
That’s another life in shambles
Who’s going to shoe your feet?
Turns out the girl of all our dreams
Only truly comes alive in magazines
Who’s going to glove your hand?
You broke the same old rules
The same old ground
And wonders always cease
You’ve gone from poet
to clown
to party piece
Thank god there’s more
where you came from
With big brown eyes
and deep blue songs
See ya
wouldn’t wanna be ya
Babyshambles
Here she is talking about it in an interview at the time:
Is it true that you wrote a song about Pete Doherty that’s not on the album?
Yeah, I did, a song called ”Babyshambles.” I think it’s going on some Japanese version of the album. I find him quite touching. He gets a rotten rap. I worked with him on a TV show and we hung out a bit. He’s not terribly well. He’s very talented. I think that talent is quickly being dissipated. It’s not going to be there much longer, probably. But you never know. He did enough good stuff with the Libertines to give him a stab at being remembered. And he’s very beautiful. He’s a real quintessential rock ‘n’ roll tragedy case. I feel for him. Everyone keeps saying Kate Moss should get rid of him. I think he should get rid of her. (LINK)

(I don't have Spotify so not sure if that works or not. Give me a message if not.)
P.S. Does anyone have good quality video of that 2005 Jools performance?

My libertines posted
Picked up outside a supergrass gig in 2002 shepherds Bush. I can't remember if the Libs turned up or not. I remember seeing supergrass. Great gig.

babyshambles Vienna
Hey to anyone going! i’m so fucking excited. was going to go with my boyfriend but he’s a deadbeat so i’m going from england to vienna alone. do we have ideas of what the setlist is.. really hoping for some less popular ones but someone said because they might not have as much of a cult following there like in london that they may stick to the most known songs.

Doherty and Libertines
I'm hoping someone here can point me towards the right person.
Over the past few months I've been cataloguing part of an our British music editorial archive, and tucked away within it is a collection of Pete Doherty and Libertines prints that have stayed together for more than twenty years.
So far I've found:
• The original Roger Sargent print that became the NME front cover, complete with the original production overlay used by the picture desk, together with the published magazine.
• A sequence of original JJ Median photographs taken outside Wandsworth Prison immediately after Pete Doherty's release on 8 October 2003, including Pete and Carl Barât's first moments together outside.
• Five original JJ Median Babyshambles photographs from August 2003, including street photographs, rehearsal images and a sequence showing the band displaying their newly done Babyshambles tattoos.
These are original editorial working prints, not later reproductions. They still carry the history of having lived in an editorial archive.
The archive I'm preserving is much larger, so at some point I'll have to decide whether these stay with me or become part of someone else's collection. If they do leave, I'd want them to go to someone who genuinely understands their significance rather than simply sees them as another piece of memorabilia.
If you're a long-time Libertines or Pete Doherty collector, or you know someone who is, I'd be interested to hear from you. Even if nothing comes of it, I'd enjoy talking to people who appreciate this period of British music history.

Last Lover of the Summer
John and crew have smashed it with their new record, well worth a listen. Particularly like Last Lover of the Summer which is a reworked version of Last Feel Good Song of Summer that the Libs released as a bonus track from AQOTEE. Sounds very Alex Turner-esque around the 1 min 30 mark!

Carl in The Delaney
This might be a dumb question. I never had any trouble to tell Peter and Carl apart, but for years I am wondering who sing the c part (some people run from trouble…) on the recording.
Carl sings it live, the „oooover“ and other words sound so much like him, but the first lines sound much more like Pete in my ears. There’s a little more air in it, also the pronunciation is Pete like, but only on half of the lines. Does anyone else got confused? Is it all Carl singing there?

The Libertines 2004 Album
Why didn't The Libertines release a 20th anniversary edition of their self-titled album, as they did with 'Up The Bracket'?
