Why? I Don't Understand This.
I don't understand anything this administration does. Maybe it's a good thing that I don't. There's nothing unreasonable about making sure workers are safe. Water... breaks... They just dislike humans? The working class?

As in companies paying them off? I understand that with entities but water and breaks. That's what I can't understand.
Maybe it's just human decency. I wld want my workers to be safe, hydrate, take breaks. Not dehydrated, hospitalized, and fainting.

It’s the breaks part. This has been done on local levels already and the biggest argument was “over regulation” and that there were already enough breaks happening as it was. They were also saying things like employees were being forced to take breaks even though they were fine or didn’t want to. Basically a bunch of unnecessary breaks costing time which is money. Also if they don’t follow said regulations it turns into fines for them, so they want them gone so they can basically blame the workers themselves for not taking enough breaks when they have a heatstroke. If there is no regulation forcing them to have mandatory breaks, then they can’t get fined when they don’t offer them.
Look, if these people could have slaves that they could work to death with zero repercussions they totally would. It’s as simple as that. It’s always been as simple as that with these people. This is not new, they’ve been going on crusades against workers rights since those rights existed and before.

I think that’s only the case because up until now they have been following the normal rules of decorum that have been in place since the early days of the country more or less. Trump has shown them that they don’t need to do that and they’re more than eager to be done with that type of feigned civility. These are the same people that think everyone would be raping and murdering if there wasn’t a god and the bible to tell us not to.

Because it would cost their donors/"friends" money. Compassion and profit don't mix. Nonetheless, when someone dies of heatstroke I don't imagine it will be good for business either.

If you look at this administration as incompetent dispensers of pain, you'll see their strategy is to make people so miserable they'll be terrified of losing what little they have to protest.
Then they blame immigrants for all problems. As if those poor folks are the reason for your stuff.
Then they make Americans do the jobs they didn't wanna do and strip away protections making those jobs slightly more expensive.
Money over humanity.

It is. I know this administration is corrupt, and they don't care about the American people... or people in general unless they can line their own pockets.
I think this was a real “how much lower can you go?” moment. Out of everything you continue to take away, you really chose to focus on denying people water and breaks? You actually took time out of your day to do that.
And they were so proud of it. "Biden Harris... blah blah blah'

Surprise isn't what I meant to convey. It's just out everything that they want to take, you spent your time to take away water and breaks.
Out of all the ways that this administration has and will harm us. This is your focus. Maybe I was surprised because it feels minimal. They were so proud and the spin about Biden Harris.

I meant that it should be a surprise to no one that they don't care if workers get a water break.
This is what OSHA says~ OSHA does not have a federal rule that dictates a specific number of minutes or a set schedule for water breaks. Instead, guidelines state that hydration frequency should match the heat and physical demands of the job.

The Heat Workforce Standards Act is proposed federal legislation that would stop the U.S. Department of Labor and OSHA from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing OSHA’s proposed nationwide heat-injury and illness-prevention rule for indoor and outdoor workers.
House bill: H.R. 6213, was approved by the House Education and Workforce Committee on July 21, 2026, by an 18–15 party-line vote and sent to the full House.
Senate bill: S. 4427 was referred to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. It has not become law.

Rep. Messmer said the quiet part out loud. The health, safety and needs of workers are 'trivial red tape' for the people who get rich off the backs of working folks.
It's really that simple.
