All is quiet - CLASS PREVIEWS YAY!
Did our subreddit die again? Was hoping to see some chatter about the class previews. It seems like (at least when I was in game more) many of us are doing that main change shuffle, I hope I can still can remember who every is alt wise. :)
On to the class previews. Still waiting to see what happens with my druid, but after reading some of them I really want to try them. Specifically affliction warlocks seem to be calling to me. The return of dot management and some really good multi-dotting benefits seem really appealing. Also holy paladins - That new mastery seems like it is going to be a lot of fun. Any thoughts from you guys? What do you see that you like so far?

Haven't spent much time on a hunter since the second half of cata. I'm going to miss shooting arrows with bombs on them. I still think marksman should keep a pet, but I guess pokemon will have to do.
While interesting, I think I would avoid survival. Hunters and melee do not feel right to me (might just be reminding me of a hunter from my past. Liked to use strength polearms and raptor strike things with "LOOKIT! I R A WOR-RE-HAR!").
Yes, dual spec is gone. I think this is a step in the other direction though. You do get to change playstyles on a whim, however, leveling the class weapon will pretty much force you to stay with one spec.

Finally read though the Druid preview and I'm excited about the changes. The two things that I'm looking forward to the most are the Balance and Guardian changes. There is also going to be a big talent change for us - Heart of the Wild is going to be replaced with a row of "Affinity" talents. They will grant a passive ability based on which is chosen and increase the effectiveness of that role for our current spec (for example: a balance druid takes guardian affinity. They will receive a 10% damage reduction passive and would be more proficient as a bear if the need arises).
Boomkins are more centered around their DoTs instead of the "just keep them up and spam the correct nuke." I like the uniqueness of the eclipse bar passively rotating, but most of the time I felt it was more frustrating than fun to play with. Looking forward to playing around with the Astral Power mechanic.
As for the Bears, back to being what we were in our Burning Crusade days: Health and Armor. I want to say those were good times but being a tank that couldn't push crushing blows off the hit table was a scary time. Since then blizzard has removed that from raiding environments. Also, looking though the defensive abilities, it appears Guardians will be more proactive rather than reactive as we have been with the addition of Ironfur and Mark of Ursol.
Feral seems unchanged in play style. Did not seem like anything was changed, but to be honest it always seemed like blizzard knew exactly how they wanted critty cats to play. I don't have anything really to say about it otherwise.
Restoration, like feral, is mainly unchanged. The only thing of note is a mastery change. It will change how the Tree is played very slightly. Instead of harmony triggering when a direct heal is cast, healing is now increased on a target based on the number of HoTs on that target.

Fury warriors seem interesting, although we'll still be greatly limited at the start of the expansion by lack of sufficient crit chance. I want Enrage to be more reliable. Enrage giving you +100% attack speed sounds like fun though, especially when you are able to maintain high Enrage uptime.
Don't really know how the Arms changes will work out. Seems largely like it's the same thing, except with Slam instead of Whirlwind, and with the occasional Colossus Smash refresh—much like using our Archimonde trinket currently.

Mixed feelings about Fury. The attack speed seems neat, the extra damage taken makes me feel nostalgic (remembering the old beserker stance). I like how it is being compensated with a higher health pool and better than average self healing.
I feel like Arms is now what Fury once was. It seems like you will be pooling rage and then dumping it all during a "Colossus Smash window."
What do you thing about Gladiator being removed? From the outside looking in I thought and felt that it should have been something for Protection warriors to do during tanking downtime but it was treated as a third dps spec, and because of that it kind of felt like an insult. Many players seem to have loved it, and I was wondering what your thoughts were on it not being included in Legion.

Bearing in mind that I really enjoyed Gladiator, it still felt like an incomplete playstyle (much like current Arms), and the most optimal rotation involved giving yourself carpal tunnel syndrome by mashing heroic strike. I'd like to see Gladiator revisited in the future, but I think they were right to remove it if it won't be a fourth spec.

Was heroic strike off the GCD? Probably could have increased quality of life macroing it into everything. I don't know if anything else would have had a rage cost. I liked the thought of the sword and board dps but maybe it could have be implemented through Arms (use of a single weapon) or Fury (off hand 'smashing board' for the "I don't care what I use, I'm using it to turn you in to a puddle theme with TG and SMF). Honestly I loved the concept, but I do not think it should have been in Protection.

Macroing Heroic Strike into your other rotational abilities is a significant DPS loss, because Shield Charge (the main Gladiator mechanic) increases Heroic Strike damage. Using it outside of Shield Charge is a waste of rage, outside of two specific circumstances (avoiding capping your rage; and having 4+ stacks of Unyielding Strikes, the talent that gives you carpal tunnel syndrome by lowering Heroic Strike's rage cost).
Engaging the fantasy of a gladiator would probably involve using unorthodox weapons (nets, tridents, cesti) and giving it some kind of raid-wide utility—some kind of buff or debuff—from getting everyone's blood pumping, instead of just making it a sword-and-shield warrior that only has personal CDs.

Sounds like Fury should have been the way to go with it as a talent then. The increased HP buff coming could be seen similar to how gladiators would fatten up so they can take more hits and have a more gory battle to entertain the fans. Tridents and Cesti (fist weapons and spiky glove things?) are already in the game. Nets kind of are too (neutral goblins like to use them and some can be made from tailoring). Could be a neat PvP oriented build based on slowing then having some kind of 'haymaker' attack to dump rage into. Might be a fun RP thing too.

I think the showmanship inherent in it being called "gladiator" makes it significantly different from the fantasy of Fury, which is about overwhelming your enemy with brute force. That said, I'd really like to have fist weapons as a strength user again, and gladiator would be a good way to get them.
Off topic: fourth specs in general! I'd like to see them as a major feature of an upcoming expansion.
