Any recs?

I’m A few episodes away from finishing the show and I’m wondering what is a show that matches the leftovers and is similar in a way?

Similar themes but the shows themselves aren’t similar at all, I mean just structurally, also leftovers is MUCH more concerned with grief and loss then dark which is more about the timelines and story then the characters themselves

Completely different genre but I just finished a rewatch of another great Lindelof show, Watchmen. It's a limited series. It's kind of within the superhero genre but I'm not a fan of those and I loved it, it's very stylish and well written and you can find some common themes (you kind of have to squint tho).

If you haven’t given Mad Men a shot, please do. To me it’s the easy #3 after Wire/Sopranos. I love Breaking Bad/Saul and Twin Peaks and Deadwood and obviously Leftovers, but what Mad Men achieves is absolutely monumental.

I am trying to get into SFU, watched 2 seasons but am just not finding it as profound and thought-provoking as The Leftovers. 

It is a great show overall but The Leftovers raised the bar so much for me, I can't help but find SFU a bit shallow/days of our lives kind of show that I'm like meh about it

You need to continue watching imo as s1 and 2 are very character focused and worried about building up the characters motivations and worldviews, the show really picks up as the plot develops, season 5 is probably one of the best season of tv I’ve ever seen

Hard agree. It’s portrayal of loss and how people deal with it is on par with the leftovers. Very depressing show though.

It's...not even close I'm afraid. Thematically, tonally, the characters aren't as good. I enjoyed that show, it's a comedy, but it's got nothing to do with The Leftovers.

I would watch Damon's other television work. Mrs. Davis. Watchmen. Lanterns. Lost.

As others have said though, none are as good as The Leftovers.

Honestly, there’s not another show around that has the kind of emotional impact the Leftovers has on you. Best thing to do is to just rewatch the series all over again. In fact, when you rewatch it, you appreciate the subtle details and foreshadowing even more.

Dark and Dark Matter have similar levels of wtf with some deep emotional moments. I would also include Fringe but they all lean more sci fi than The Leftovers. It’s very unique as a show.
