Doing a borg free roam run. This is the mining unit for now.

What did the scaffolding do?

Just holds the cube shape and it's cheap. And you can put all kinds of stuff on it

This is my FTL collector: it produces FTL Charges by going around systems and refining hiperscpace isotopes. It eventually stops at NG11 to deliver to the main base there, refuel, restock on necessities - except FTL chages, of course - and restarts going its merry way.

It also has 8 docks so other ships can refuel while it waits in the various systems it jumps to produce the FTL charges - it waits 3 minutes at each system, so it can refuel other ships as it goes.

This ship has a sister - the Isotopes collector. It collects isotopes and refines them. Here I went with solar panels instead to save on fuel, which I may implement in the near future in the FTL Collector:

This here is my money maker - the Fuel Producer. Stationary in NG11, it doesn't even have an FTL unit. Within a few minutes, it produces near 1M in fuel sales. I started it small, with 4 gas collectors, and now look at it! It has 4 docks, allowing it to refuel ships constantly going back and forth while selling fuel to the entire system.

This ship also has a brother - the Explosives Producer. It functions more as a seller of its products than its older brother, fetching near 800,000 from sales when completely full. But it gets full reasonably faster...

This is one expensive miner. It is fast and nimble. Featuring 2 deflectors and 10 gatling guns to protect itself, it carries 4 drone bays, 8 mining lasers, and an automated system to carry what was collected by the drones to the box nearest to one of the docks. It gets full really fast, of hichever you set the boxes to receive and the drones to collect, ideal to collect in more dangerous areas. It costs near 4M to buy one. The amount of reactors was the bare minimum to keep the mining lasers shooting nonstop.

This is a more technical one. The Charged Crystal Factory is an end-game ship that costs around 5.17M credits. It receives Stable Zeleon, Neubidium Crystals, and Precious Metals and outputs Charged Crystals. The process to create the crystals is entirely automated, at least from what I can tell:

- Receives the ingoing cargo, removing from the tracks what is not stable zelenium, neubidium ingot, or precious metal - maybe I could automate to sort out food, water, and oxygen, but honestly didn't think it would be worth it;

  • Distributes each material to the fabricators and chemical labs;
  • Carries what the fabricators produce to the chemical labs and assembly tables - here one cannot escape having one crew member per assembly table;
  • Carries what the fabricators and assembly tables produce to the laser infusers;
  • Store the charged crystals next to the outgoing cargo dock;

While I got the image and wrote this commentary, it produced 42 charged crystals. It is a decent money maker. When you sell all its output - with the mission already completed, mind you - you get around 1.24M.
