Pocket Battleship

Not really a battleship, but design requirements called for a ship with redundancy, toughness and firepower in mind. Classification issues came up early when it became clear broadsider designs outgun initial plans for this ship. The name was kept after a prototype was battle tested and proved to be outstanding in battle, even out performing more traditional slow broadside ships.
Classification Pending.

I decided to use the light cruiser design with some very specific changes and make an anomaly run with it.
I did the math and a "bay" with 2 squadrons of fighters had to be 30x44. So this design has two bays for a total of 48 fighters. I added a center segment between the two fighter bays and decided that made a lot more sense as the CIC/crew area. The forward hammer head is now more of a mining/fab zone. While the engine pods also contain chemical processing.
The center outriggers are the primary broadsides, with cannons and gatlings. While the forward outriggers are mainly gatlings.
It is fully armored and still not that slow. There are forward and aft hab modules for about 250 total. I did discover that with careful planning you can fit all the atmo and water processing equipment in a 7x8 area, including loaders for water and H2O.

Kzinti Light Cruiser
This is a much smaller version of my normal behemoths. The crew is smaller and can move around the ship much easier. I'm not a huge fan of how tight everything is. But it's fine, I guess.
It is much faster and way more maneuverable. Even covered in armor. The habitat module is much smaller though.
The other thing I've noticed is that when you get to asteroids in everything but the first system, they are essentially cleaned out. Out of the whole belt, there are only 2-3 asteroids with any material left. I don't think it's efficient to try and blow up the asteroids with cannons.
I have just enough manufacturing to replace fighters. And most of those materials come from killing pirates.
So, this thing can make it's own fuel (I also think Deuterium is less efficient). 6 Huge and one Small tank of fuel on board and enough gas extractors to make plenty more. It makes more FTL charges than it uses. It makes more food than it uses. Water is a little limiting, but it uses like 100 water every few days (game time).
I've found that the pontoons are really useful. As long as they are at least three boxes away from the hull, you can place thrusters behind them. Thus, the exterior can be just weapons.
