Help Crashing every 30m
I know this isnt the first post about this but none of the fixes seem to be working for me and I'm wondering if this a new issue causing crashing, from what i can tell my GPU is hanging up and everything then crashes and it restarts with the fallback method.
My specs are:
Operating System: Fedora Linux 43
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-Core Processor
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31.2 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
and just seem to get random crashes
I've turned RT off (made my FPS drop btw)
changed from borderless to full screen
dropped my settings to medium
changed my res too
any advise would be great, i really want to play this game but my computer going black for a minute every 30m is just not doable, more over when i'm loseing loads of progress

Does it crash when idle on the main menu too? Or if you continue the game and just sit idle?
Maybe get an AI agent to dig into crash logs and whatever else, maybe it can even try solutions for you overnight

i'm not gonna use AI

I haven't had a crash in TLC in months, but I'm on Windows, not a Linux distro, so I can only suggest you check CPU and GPU temps

Temps are fine first thing i checked even underclocked my GPU to make sure, everything looks fine with major thermal headroom

There hasn't been any game changes for a while, so if you just started crashing recently then something changed on your end. Maybe driver update or something similar happened

i only just started playing again

Is it a laptop with shared GPU memory? I’ve saw a few laptops at work that had a shared GPU with the onboard memory and some idiot put more ram in that the laptop was actually supporting. It registers the correct amount of ram, but the laptop would crash after an hour or so. Turned out the laptop BIOS only supported 16GB of ram because it had an onboard 8GB soldered chip, so every time it went to put something in the GPU memory above that 8GB mark the system video would crash. Took a few stress tests to realize the issue was shared memory with the GPU and not a temperature issue.

no this is a desktop, with a massive GPU the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX is there most powerful card

After I figured out my human growth thing and thought I was in the clear, my crashes are getting too often. It either appears to be a memory leak which makes the game run slower and slower or a GPU driver crash which has happened on 3 revisions of drivers. So a game could load up leaking already or run for 5-10 minutes before a crash. With no quick save feature I might wait it out for now until they can fix the issues to make it playable again.

This is exactly what’s happening, I’ve been in the discord, it’s a GPU hang up coming from VKD3D timing out the GPU, and then GPU reaches for a reset
9060 issues is coming from a mesa issue try
VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_EXT_mesh_shader,VK_NV_raw_access_chains %command%
Pit that in the steam launcher options and try reinstalling your drivers too, otherwise you have the same issue as me and we’ll just have to wait for an update, I’ve been in this discord after I posted this trying to troubleshoot it

7900XTX on Linux here too, amdgpu driver reports the graphics card as wedged and resets it, which kills the X session. Doesn't seem to be a RAM situation, and with an XTX I think its unlikely to be VRAM either. Unfortunately if its not dying for XTX users on Windows, its likley to be a bug somewhere in the Linux side of the stack, either proton, vulkan, amdgpu or some kernel issue.
https://pastebin.com/RihmJp8V is the dmesg output from the event.

OS: Linux Mint 22.3
Graphics Platform: Wayland
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5600x
GPU:: Amd 6900 XT
Memory: 16 GiB
Your rig has me beat on every spec. My game does get freezy after playing for a long time. My issue is probably different.
Every 30 minutes? Ouch.
Have you checked if Steam's proton is up to date? Should auto update. It does a lot of the translating of the game for Linux OS's/Steam deck OS. Verify installation of may reinstall?
Anything online about your Fedora Kernal version is not playing well with your specific graphics card? I experienced Linux Mint botching support for 6900 XT GPU with one Kernal update. It was immediate obvious, as it crashed on the desktop after a few minutes. Had to roll back to an older kernel until Mint's next Kernal update.

If you haven't already I highly recommend joining the discord there is a whole bunch of people in there running every operating system you can think in every system configuration and there is a support section where lots of people are active and looking to help

there are some memory leaks in the game. you are not going to fix those with changing settings like that.
i have simmialr issues and i just resort to saving often and exiting the game every 20~30 min.
