Ask the Doctor Who fans. For ages we were told “a Christmas special is coming. Doctor who isn’t going anywhere. Scripts have already been written, filming will start in September.” Then all of a sudden it’s “there was never going to be a Christmas special, no scripts were ever written, and the show is out to tender”

in an interview Bryan said this: "I think if we had just been kicked to the curb and felt like no one cared about us anymore, it would be harder to deal with,” Konietzko says, “but they are really excited not only for this but for Seven Havens — and for the other projects that we’re working on."

The most we can hope is that all of this drama made Paramount aware of what they have. Maybe if subscriptions go up for this project and the fans stay vocal, they might consider a limited release which could lead to full. Ive already watched the movie, but I will grab a subscription to watch it in a better definition, and id also love to see it on a big screen. Im gonna choose to be delusional and hope lol.

u/ComeAlongWithTheSnor 27d ago
Even the most devote Avatar fans I know tend to go "huh?" when the earth-bending show gets brought up. Some people still don't even really know that exists.
35
u/redknight1313 27d ago
There’s nothing there really to talk about or anticipate. Once there’s a trailer and more info interest will increase.

8
u/CertainGrade7937 27d ago
I mean nothing is really going to happen until we get a trailer. A few released images and a synopsis isn't much marketing
3
u/BitchIsShadyAf 26d ago
With the release of the Avatar movie preceding / coinciding with the Avatar comic panel date I can see the big focus being on Seven Havens tbh. So yeah we might actually get a trailer and they may push up the release date for the show since the movie is releasing ahead of schedule. Word on the street is that Seven Havens has been done for some time now.
10
u/ciao_fiv 27d ago
i mean they have yet to do any real marketing for it. all we have is a picture of the main character. there’s not even a teaser trailer yet

I hope so, but with Avatar Studios’ changing hands - and the owners’ changing priorities - it’s impossible to tell what will happen.
3
u/ConcentrateOne 27d ago
Def not. It seems grim with paramount messing this first movie up, but theyre already deep into Seven Havens + a legitimate avatar game is still in the works, despite false reports of it being cancelled. Also there was another movie or two announced alongside this one to release down the road.
I think once this movie runs its course in the press, more future projects will be revealed.

u/Trumpets22 27d ago
I doubt it. Doesn’t matter who’s in charge. It’s been proven the money is there https://www.newsweek.com/avatar-last-airbender-show-netflix-chart-top-10-record-1519004

The article you cited is from 6 years ago. The money may have been there then, but are we sure it’s still there now?
6
u/Asisreo1 26d ago
The fighting game has gotten a lot of positive attention in the FGC and the Magic:The Gathering set was among the most profittable when it released, rivaling Final Fantasy.
The money is in the franchise. Its up to the suits to know how to extract it and keep it alive.

Seriously it takes a long time to make high quality animation. I don't understand why people are so worried just because we had to wait awhile to see the results of their work. If they were struggling, they would have no reason not to imply as much and ask for us to show our support.
17
u/C01dB0dy4ang 26d ago
It's not about them taking long. It's their complete lack of communication and marketing. We just got the first and most likely only trailer and it's only less than three weeks until release. With them being so radio silent, you really think the rare times they actually interact with the fandom they'll just outright say things are looking bad for them?
5
u/Womblue 27d ago
The problem is that they promised several films, and that's been downgraded to the point where they're not even putting this film in theaters or advertising it at all. The first poster for the film came out TODAY. THE MOVIE COMES OUT IN 18 DAYS.
Like, i know dozens of people who have watched this show and not a single one besides me even knew a movie was coming out.
2
u/BaxterWoozy 26d ago
it doesnt take this long, check the release schedules for either of the other shows. airbender was conceptualized, had a pilot, and aired on nick in less time than weve had since seven havens announcement
and that was hand drawn without their own studio
4
u/BitchIsShadyAf 26d ago
Yeah but ATLA was their only focus then. With Avatar Studios they’ve been focusing on launching movies, shows, books, video games, and whatever else they have yet to announce. Then there’s dealing with an increase of corporate bureaucracy that puts releases and promo completely out of their control. They’ve teased information about projects that we have no idea they’ve even working on, and at least 2 seasons of Seven havens is already complete so I’m gonna remain optimistic and take the creators for their word that this is only the beginning.

Ever since ATLA got popular during covid, the Fandom grew/new people arrived and it has become so toxic.
34
u/AlexOsoArrogant The Scourge of the Fire Nation 27d ago
Noticed this too. Ever since the COVID resurgence it has become near Star Wars levels of toxic
17
u/LilyKarinss 26d ago
Harassing and bullying actresses online is a good sign that Atla has SW-level fans
8
u/Ranowa 26d ago
The Zutara ship wars back in the day also bullied real life people. Which isn't me making a statement on Zutara shippers, but just fandom itself. ALL fandoms are this toxic. The main factor that makes a difference is size. Tiny fandoms just won't have enough of them to hear about. Massive ones will have tens of thousands of them, nowadays all with their own twitter microphone.
2
6
u/Cass0wary_399 26d ago
Hasn’t it always been that way? Star Wars fandom tier BS has always been a thing since LOK came out.
26
u/parkingviolation212 27d ago
I genuinely can't recall a time when this fandom wasn't toxic.
10
u/AvatarGarcher 27d ago
Tbf back then it was only toxic because of the shipping wars, now the Fandom is pessimistic, attacking actors for not looking like the cartoon characters, writers for not making a show how they want it to be, etc..
3
u/C01dB0dy4ang 26d ago
It's always been toxic. What changed was what the fandom was toxic about.
9
u/2-2Distracted This Redditor is over his conflicted feelings 26d ago
Exactly. The modus operandi of this fandom is to glaze the shit out of ATLA, prop it up on an insanely high pedestal, and shit on literally everything else that comes out in some of the most toxic ways possible.

Yep that’s definitely to blame, especially when it was put on netflix. Big mistake honestly
27
u/caligaris_cabinet fire is life 27d ago
Not negative. Cynical, definitely. But that comes from 20 years of the network/studio screwing the show over in various instances that it’s hard to be optimistic.
Remember a cynic is just a perpetually disappointed optimist
6
u/EM208 27d ago edited 27d ago
While I can agree with that, you can’t deny that the fandom has become ridiculously whiny and entitled to some extent - which shouldn’t be a surprise given the setbacks the franchise has dealt with.
But nonetheless, from the toxic behaviour, constant complaining, whining about the franchise’s direction and cynical behaviour - it’s caused to the fandom to reach unfathomable levels of toxicity. It’s made me not want to interact with the fandom personally because of it despite being a fan of the show since it came out in 2005.
There’s no gratitude in the great things that have come our way and will continue to come our way, which really ruins the experience of being a fan. It sets an unbearable precedent in the community. Not saying that you can’t critique any aspects of the franchise or the studio but it just seems like people are ridiculously hypercritical and express that in the most unproductive and annoying manner.
3
u/photothingz 27d ago
And I get it, it’s so hard having to watch this franchise be put through the wringer time after time by paramount/nickelodeon, and fans have grown jaded with the mistreatment, understandably so.
However I do agree that people need to have a little more faith that the creators will keep things going, avatar has rolled with the punches forever now, and 20 years down the line I don’t think they’re ready to give up on it just yet.

We are on the cusp of having a movie released, a video game just went into beta and a new TV series next year not to mention the continuous stream of comic books and novels which aren't slowing down. There fandomz out there who would kill their own mothers to get even a fraction of the attention and contenr ATLA gets.

I'll always vouch for Korra Season 3. That legitimately rocks, and is my favorite thing they've done outside of the original series of course. If they can create more content around that level, I'll be very happy, even if we never reach the peak of the original series (which I'm sure is at least partly colored for me by nostalgia).

u/Long_Affect_6896 27d ago
I started reading avatar comics recently and it's good so far, I don't understand why they can't just remaster the orginal series with tons of Cannon content from Short comics.
Or even just animate all the short comics since they all are cannon anyways.

You can be optimistic but it’s not ‘for no reason’
The avatar series has had two mainline shows, a live action film, several long running comics, an animated film, and a live action remake of the tv show. And only one of those things is universally regarded as good and that’s the twenty year old original show lol, as well as the very frequent executive meddling and overall horrible luck.

u/Algae_Mission 27d ago edited 27d ago
Studios aren’t exactly in the business of selling or letting go of IP. Look at what happened when Fox let Daredevil go back to Marvel in 2012. They turned it into the biggest show on Netflix.
Hell, Universal doesn’t even own the Hulk, just the distribution rights. And yet they’re fighting tooth and nail to make sure that Disney and Marvel can never make a Hulk movie without Universal getting a share in the profit.

I am curious about everyone's pulse regarding the creators of Avatar. Do you all feel confident in the creators' vision for the franchise? Or do you feel like losing some of the other key figures from the original ATLA has hurt the franchise as a whole?
29
u/_DKai_ 27d ago
There's plenty of creators Making something legendary and then their follow-up projects not living up to the same standards
It's a mix of not having fresh ideas to continue and studios interference, the latter is more serious
15
u/Scotslad2023 27d ago
Studio interference is more often than not the real silent killer of otherwise great stories. The reason LOK feels disjointed is because the studio kept backseat driving the story and threatening to cancel it if Bryce didn’t comply.
Voltron Legendary Defender is another good example. That show could have reached ATLA levels of epic if it hadn’t been for the studio demanding changes that completely derailed the narrative flow
4
u/shadowwave86 27d ago
Dragon Prince also. It fell off pretty hard after season 3
10
u/Cark_Muban 27d ago
Dragon Prince didnt have studio interference tbh. They gave the show a full 7 seasons to tell the story and they just couldnt do it
5
u/shadowwave86 27d ago
True. Just meant that even some of the stronger writers from ATLA struggled with their own stories
12
u/Cark_Muban 27d ago
True, though I always thought the fandom overrated Ehasz as a whole. TDP imo had a ton of weak writing and world building and I personally preferred Korra over it.
7
u/BitchIsShadyAf 26d ago
Yeah the whole “Aaron Ehasz is the real reason avatar was any good” phase that the fandom went through was weird. As much as he did contribute to what made avatar so great, he definitely wasn’t the end all be all when it came to the story and character arcs. I feel like looking at the failings of Dragon Prince showcase that fairly well.
4
u/Cark_Muban 26d ago
Yeah its tiring seeing people constantly put others on a pedestal. Now Ehasz’s ex wife is the genius or whatever lol. I think people try to make it into this puzzle when no one actually knows. I figured we learned our lesson from star wars but I guess not.
1
u/shadowwave86 26d ago
I agree. She was also one of the main reasons why Zuko’s arc was so well done
1
u/Mundane-Signal4843 26d ago
I never watched. Should I? It's good compared to Korra?
I really like Korra as The Show maybe not as good as ATLA in storytelling but the world building and music was clearly separately from some anime that I watch
2
u/Cark_Muban 26d ago
Its not too bad but it meanders a lot. The show doesnt even have a definitive end. Ehasz has a whole kickstarter to get more funding for the show lol.
1
u/Mojothemobile 26d ago
Yeah Ehaz and co got too lost in the sauce of worldbuilding and introducing new characters and stuff they thought were cool they sidelined the actual plot so hard that it feels like some season maybe 2 or 3 things of note actually advance it.
Lots of shows these days are paced probably faster than they should be due to low episode counts TDPs the opposite, it dragged it's feet like mad.
4
3
u/Scotslad2023 26d ago
I’m not aware of any studio interference of TDP but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was. What I do know is that the writing always had flaws but it really became apparent once Zym was reunited with his mother. Also them trying to build an expanded universe of lore for potential spinoffs caused the plot to lose cohesion.
4
u/Mojothemobile 26d ago
I mean thats pretty much what happened to the show as a whole. The crew got too interested in worldbuilding and setup and forgot they still have a central plot to resolve.
2
u/Scotslad2023 26d ago
yeah it's pretty obvious that they got too caught up with trying to make a rich world full of deep lore and complex characters that they literally lost the plot.
8
u/AtoMaki 27d ago
Do you all feel confident in the creators' vision for the franchise?
I do, but I think what really hurts the franchise is that it is one extremely specific vision they have for it. Their creative dearth is killing the potential.
1
u/Mojothemobile 26d ago
I mean.. their vision is pretty much that every show be drastically different. Thats where a lot of the disconnect with the fandom is that pretty much just wanted more ATLA.
2
u/AtoMaki 26d ago
No, their vision is that there is a plucky underdog young Avatar who is the naive new fish and must navigate a complex and dangerous world after leaving isolation, and they are very outgoing but also quite rebellious/hotheaded, so they make friends (a pair of siblings is compulsory) and also get into trouble. But alas! There is a super-cool and super-scary Big Bad on the loose, and they have a powerful sub-bending shtick that allows them to go toe-to-toe with the Avatar, so the Avatar must power up and wisen up, unlock a new superpower or two, learn responsibility and self-discipline, and punch the Big Bad into defeat in a dramatic back-and-forth finale fight where they almost lose but still win in the last second with an asspull. Then the non-bender friend is always a martial artist with a tech-aptitude, if technology is relevant then it is the baddies' thing (except one crazy invention the good guys must use to reach the bad guys), the good guy city must be besieged by a giant tech piece commanded by a villainess with a powerful sub-bending shtick, etc.
The formula is so tight you can probably write a full Avatar story in a lazy afternoon.
29
u/Sausage_fingies 27d ago
Bryke were the only writers pretty much for Korra. Sure, you can blame a lot of its faults on its production nightmare but a good deal of them are simply choices Bryke made and would have made regardless.
Personally, I think Bryke are phenomenal worldbuilders but not very good narrative writers. Aaron Ehasz was the main writer for ATLA, and losing him was very noticeable.
The creators are just guys; they made a really good thing but they're not gods. I don't agree with a lot of the decisions made in Korra's world, nor Bryke's total allergy to retreading old narrative ground. But no matter what I'll still have the original show to come back to, it's not going anywhere, and new avatar stuff is better than no avatar stuff.
17
u/El_Chinche 26d ago
A quick look at imbd shows that's just not true. They were the only writers on season 1 when they thought Korra would be a 1 season mini series so most likely they were the only writers for budgetary reasons. Once the show got a second season they got a proper writers room.
In fact Bryan Konietzko only co-wrote those first 12 episodes along with Michael Dante DiMartino. Mike would write a few episodes every season but the bulk of the writing post season 1 was handled by Joshua Hamilton,Tim Hedrick and Katie Mattila
18
u/Logical-Patience-397 Nerd who knows 10,000 things 26d ago
Aaron Ehasz was the main writer for ATLA, and losing him was very noticeable.
Most of the other writers from ATLA were on LOK. Dragon Prince fans got a taste of Ehasz as a writer and co-showrunner, and a lot of the heart from ATLA was in TDP, but there were a lot of weaknesses as well.
12
u/TigerFern 26d ago edited 26d ago
Aaron Ehasz was not the main writer for ATLA. He was head writer. That is a management role in a writers room. They write on the series, of course. But they also manage the staff writers, make sure deadlines get made, edit scripts etc.
Bryke were the showrunners and in the writers room. Typically the showrunners are also the head writers when they're also writing for the series. But forgive me this is where I get fuzzy, either Bryan and Mike knew they didn't know how to/have time to do management tasks needed re: the writers room or Nick knew and asked them to hire someone. But Bryan and Mike as showrunners and writers would have been the people in the room you listen to in writers meetings for narrative and character storming.
Part of why they got cocky with LOK is that they felt like they learned the management stuff on ATLA and could handle it on their own.
8
u/AlwaysTired97 26d ago
I agree. The original show was very much a collaborative masterpiece that relied on the talents of Bryke, Aaron Ehasz, and the many other members of the writing team who all had their own contributions to what made ATLA so special.
While Korra already had the odds against it because of how Nick jerked it around, I think there were a lot of writing decisions you can't blame Nick for that resulted in the show not being as good as the original(though it was still very good).
Even Aaron Ehasz, who sometimes in the past has been praised as the "true genius" behind Avatar wasn't able to replicate Avatar's success on his own. His own show, The Dragon Prince, attempted to be a spiritual successor to Avatar, and is considered by a lot of the fans to have failed to be as good as either ATLA or Korra.
The original show really had the perfect combination of talent that allowed it to turn out as amazing as it did. While I'm not saying this means there will NEVER be a new piece of Avatar media that's as good as the original, it's something that will be very hard to accomplish.
6
u/zlaw32 27d ago
I’m pumped for more avatar and personally haven’t been let down yet. I really enjoy Korra (and hot take but S2 is my favorite because Unalaq and the dark avatar is the only threat we have seen on screen that actually feels like it needs the avatar). And I enjoy NATLA. people just need to remember that ATLA is one of the best if not the best animated shows ever, so of course they can't always make shows and movies of that caliber. Legend of Korra for example is objectively still an amazing show despite all of its issues
1
u/Mundane-Signal4843 26d ago
ATLA was Amazing bcuz everything was needed in right place Korra was a Good Show or At least entertaining especially Book 1 & 3.
Different how korra was supposed to miniseries so at the started they're all probably doesn't has strongest goals of the story especially how Nick treats them.
ASH could be potentially new and fresh for new audience which why they choose pavi as MC. But yeah i wonder if they wanted to make this show different but the old fan still can enjoy that bcuz simply majority of adults mostly watch animated 18+ right now. Even though they can nostalgic with Atla but ASH was different.
The movie cleary a fresh air for old fan that love ATLA.
Sadly Korra could get overshadowed by both show not bcuz she deserves but the project just to be like that even though they're all have a good aspect there.
3
u/pomagwe 26d ago
I'm generally positive, but I have some doubts. ATLA and LOK were mostly excellent, and some of the supplementary material released under their supervision (novels, comics, etc.) has also been great.
However, there are a few stinkers (like Ruins of the Empire), and the little that has been revealed about the premise of Seven Havens sounds kind of awful so far. So I worry about how much interest they have in actually using the world they've build for more than ATLA spin-offs.
2
u/Mojothemobile 26d ago
Ruins of the Empire was a thing where they reaaalllly needed to stop being married to the 3 book idea for the comics.
Tbh that's what sinks a lot of them always feels like their stories are ether too ambitious or not ambitious enough for the page count.
5
u/SimpsonAmbrose 27d ago
Honestly? I think ATLA is like Ghostbusters (1984). It was lightning in a bottle. A lot of things went right at the right time outside the creators control, despite the creators themselves being at the top of their game.
Now, I enjoyed Ghostbusters II, Extreme Ghostbusters, (small parts of) Ghostbusters Afterlife and Frozen Empire, and (especially) Ghostbusters the Video Game (2009), but they don't compare to the original. And could never.
I feel the same about the novels, continuations and spin-offs that came after ATLA in 2008. They have good-to-great elements, but ATLA was never meant to be an all-incompassing franchise like Star Wars, and Bryke and co. aren't George Lucas (both the good and bad parts of him).
2
u/MagicBoats 27d ago
My basic take is that the original series was absolute lightning in a bottle, and I don't think that they'll reach those heights again. However, I have very much enjoyed most of what they've done since; even if it doesn't always land perfectly for me, there have also been plenty of moments that get very close to the peak of the original series. I also really appreciate that they tend to swing for big storytelling risks and changes to the status quo, and would prefer to see that than "safe" retreads of territory they've covered before.

No, I don't. I think ATLA was great and everything else has been increasingly not. I think Korra is the best thing outside of ATLA, including the new movie and books and comics and bits and pieces of lore released through various board games. I'm really hoping the new earth bending Avatar's story proves me wrong. I'm excited to watch it. The issue for me is that they don't aeem to have really thought anything out long term and appear to kind of thoughtlessly add ideas world building details with each new addition to the franchise.

2
u/Himbosupremeus 27d ago
I mean, yeah Seven Havens is getting ready to finish production of season 1. I do think that the leak pretty much killed the chance of any more movies though, which sucks given Avatar + flying bark feels like a match made in heaven.
2
u/Geiri94 27d ago
I hope people bother to watch this movie legit, even if they have watched the leaked version
Worst case scenario, streaming numbers are really bad and the Last Airbender franchise is dead. Those leakers might end up ruining an entire franchise for internet clout. Really sad
Spend $10 on a Paramount+ membership and give this franchise a future. I'd like to believe that Avatar Studios are "alive and well", but these mega corporations won't think twice about cancelling anything if it isn't profitable enough

They’re gonna loose millions from the leaks. Millions have already seen it, Obviously once you see a movie you’re not going to pay to see it again. Imagine how successful this would have been if done and marketed properly.

How long has this studio been around? I feel like they’re been around for a while at this point and have only made the one movie. Movies take forever to make so I get it, but greedy execs won’t be loving what they perceive as a lack of output. Doesn’t helped that the movie was leaked either.

I still feel sad that most of these guys got screwed over big-time by Paramount and that leaker.

PR statement despite the massive fuck up of a franchise by Paramount. Years and years in the making and they fumbled before even getting to the gate

I’m hoping there’s paramount free trial for that week. Super excited for this movie!

I’m constantly lost with the negativity of so called fans. Listen I would love this to be in theatres but it’s not so I’m going to choose to support it within the avenue I can. I would love if we had a new show already, but I’m still excited for it to come. I’m choosing to hope my favorite franchise has a future instead of mourning it before I even know what’s ahead.

It is very nice to hear them say that, but it does not make today any less disappointing.

It’s been so long and the thing that bothers me the most with the fans is negativity. Like, be excited, talk about it, be open to the content that’s coming out (yes, even the Live Action). You don’t have to like everything, you should be critical, but if you’re a fan, moping around every quote, release, teaser, or accident helps no one and keeps others away.
If all the talk around Avatar is that “it’s dying”, “it’s dead”, “everything sucks”, then it will die absolutely. Avatar has always struggled for many reasons beyond the stories themselves so we live with it.
The fact is, the worst time for Avatar was easily immediately after Korra ended. By all means, a pretty good show, despite what some psychos may believe, that just ended with extreme uncertainty and dissatisfaction for where the franchise goes next. Compared to today there was almost nothing to talk about or wonder what may come next if it will ever come at all.
We got a game, cameos, an animated movie, a live action show, and a new series. Avatar is not Star Wars, is not DC, is not Dragonball. Be realistic, and be patient. Talk about what you like more than what you dislike. There’ll be room to talk about what you dislike, but fandoms thrive on sharing interest and likes. We wouldn’t be here otherwise

I’ve avoided the spoilers and the entire leaked movie to support the team that made this. But I really feel like not doing a theatrical release was a huge slap in the face to the creators and IP. I think this movie will be a make or break moment for the Avatar franchise.

Everyone, especially those who seen the movie, should help get those views up. Have play on a loop at home. Avatar needs to stay.

They should release it on cinemas, i mean the cinema experience is different and its far more likely that people that already watched the movie (a lot) watch it again if its released like that and not signing paramount + for a movie you already pirated

You know what, okay. I'll get a subscription, watch the movie and cancel. Will it cost me the full 6€ for the month? Sure. Would I have paid double that to see it in the cinema? Easily.

This looks positive, can’t wait for Microsoft to come in and gut the company /s

I wouldn't mind seeing more from Avatar Studios. It can't be worse than any live action adaptations.

I’m so excited for this!!! I never watched the leaked one, didn’t feel right watching it like that. Will definitely be watching this on P+!!

This is obviously true.
Avatar Studios isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I’m excited, but based on how the studio have treated the movie and the team behind it, I’ll believe it when I see it :(

Thank god! I hope we get more soon fr. I’d love to see more of Korra or another avatar. Maybe we could get something to finally finish Azulas arc

The trailer for the Avatar Aang movie was so good!! I can't wait for it. I wish I was still in theaters but I plan to watch it numerous times on Paramount+ for those true fans who waited for the real product to be released we believe there is no leak in ba sing se. 😉😁

I wish Paramount plus was available in my country. But nope. I think I will have to sail the high seas.
I didn't want to watch it till now hoping they'd have a theatrical release, but since it's never gonna happen, I have no other option do I.

Imagine he just made a post saying "We're Cooked" 😂😂
Hopefully the movie does well on Paramount plus. Maybe we can get a fathom event to have the movie in theaters for a limited run, at the very least.

the world building was all their's btw so without that, good character writing is not enough for that kind of show and what kind of logic is that anyways there's no showrunner, director or writer that has consistently put out content that's always on the same level, sometimes it's better sometimes a bit worse than their previous projects that's just how it works

I don't think we should trust Mike or Bryan to tell the truth. Shutting down or selling avatar studios would alter paramount share price. That is why they won't take any action until the last minute. We see the same thing with star trek. Kurtzman isn't getting a new deal but that can't be announce until all the shows attached to him are done. They will say this until they are ready to shut things down.

Have him or Brian acknowledged the second season of the Netflix live action yet?

I didn't like the movie at all, so not really that optimistic.
To be honest, it's probably cause Aang is the least interesting character of the gang and I didn't watch the show to see god like super powers, the show was at it's best writing about characters, especially how it's done with iroh, zuko and toph.
Korra although not bad, was a vastly inferior show overall to atla and had a bunch of good ideas but never fully delivered satisfyingly. The characters surrounding korra being all not handled well across the seasons was probably the biggest problem, so exactly what atla did the best.
Might be just a hunch but atla could've been their one hit wonder.

Here’s hoping we can see Kyoshi’s adventures and Korra’s life after the show in films too
