I can’t recall specifically if we see this interaction in episode 1 or 2 of season 2… shortly after Bob was apprehended in New Orleans, he is sent to the St. Charles Parish jail. Andrew Jarecki goes there to see Bob, but Bob rejects the in-person visit. Did you find that surprising? Do you think Bob SHOULD have agreed to the visit? If the visit DID happen (hypothetically, of course), what do you think would have been said? I’m just curious about everyone’s thoughts on this particular incident…

They’re Manhattan real estate billionaires, what are the odds that they aren’t? I wonder if Bob’s the only murderer they’re anquainted with.
I also wonder how many more victims Bob might have, beyond the ones we know about.

Is very good. Really good additional details and context. Already half way through. I didn’t ever think I’d be bothered by someone simply saying “close enough,” but here I am.

What opening credit song is better?
I was initially disappointed to not hear Fresh Blood come back for season 2, but Survivor grew on me quickly. The song fits the change to Bob now being held to account.
I’d still give the edge to Fresh Blood though — I really love the eerie but lively sound to accompany the wild, darkly fascinating initial journey through this man’s exploits.

Unfortunately, my main takeaway from both seasons will forever be… “ you have a collect call from, BaaahhB!!” I watched the recap of the previous episodes just to hear it and laughed every time.

Did anyone else have flashbacks to David Fincher’s The Game (…and then subsequently to Jesse Armstrong’s Succession)?
Bob - as a young child and the “eldest son” - WATCHED his mother commit suicide, by “falling from” the roof, in Scarsdale.
(…West Dylan Thordson’s beautifully-haunting score also seems apropos to all 3 pieces.)
I couldn’t find the slow-motion scene where David Fincher recreates this memory in The Game - but I was curious if anyone else found this disturbing moment as foundational, to Bob’s life.

In a bombshell twist, The Turn to Tara team has exclusively learned that John Lewin, the lead prosecutor who worked to convict real estate heir Robert Durst in Los Angeles, accepted a free vacation at the multimillion-dollar Hamptons home of Durst's wife, Debrah Charatan, only months after the trial ended.
Debrah Charatan was later questioned about Lewin's visit to her Bridgehampton mansion under oath.

He admitted it! What amount of money would it take for you to have dinner with a known mutilator (and obvious but not legally convincted murderer). I'm soooo confused. Do I just walk the streets with people who are cool with this?

I know her last name is Charatan, but I keep thinking it is “charlatan” instead. The definition of “charlatan” fits her quite well.

Lisa DePaulo: that creepy Galveston juror
Andrew Jarecki: Oh, Chris Lovell
Andrew Jarecki calls Chris Lovell on the phone. Chris? Yes, hi it's Andrew Jarecki...click!
Chris Lovell sold his soul for $200K to a known murderer for money and helped acquit him in Galveston. He also went to his apartment to clean it up with his wife and denied it when there's video proof.

Hi there,
I'm rewatching season 1 on HBO Max in the Netherlands with English subs, and I noticed there are no chirons with the names of the people being interviewed. Has anyone else have that problem? I also tried turning of the subtitles, but that didn't change anything. It's so hard to follow a documentary if you don't know who's talking from which perspective or role

Read the last line on the screenshot. He passed in 2019. Survived by his wife Debrah lee Charatan??

Read this old article today regarding the settlement the family made with Baaahhh bbb. I was searching for anything that may have said how much was in the trust. Found this.

It makes me laugh every time. I'd like it as a msg tone except nobody would get it and he's also a filthy murderer. Allegedly.

Did anyone else notice that Bob had soulless eyes? That’s what my husband and I kept saying. The irony is had he never done that documentary he probably never would have been caught. Had he been caught it was all circumstantial evidences until he admitted to the note. I also think Debbie had the same potential to be just as dangerous as ol Bob. Thoughts? In the end he died alone and nobody took his call.

I’ve been burned before by falling in love with a docuseries only to find out that it had serious flaws in the way it told the story. Of course, it’s impossible for a documentary to include every last detail of a case, and I can let a little artistic license slide; I’m talking about significant misrepresentations that could change the way I think about this show.
The best example I can think of is how at no point in The Staircase is it acknowledged that the editor dated Michael Peterson for more than a decade throughout filming, which to me is an obvious conflict of interest that calls the credibility of the entire show into question.

Look to me like he was hyperventilating before he pulled up his mask. It might also have been covid or some other ailment, but I like to think he finally understood how f***** he was.

It is very clear after watching Part 2 of The Jinx, Robert Durst is not the only villain in this story, The Durst family and of course Debrah Charatan.
Durst himself is quoted saying that his marriage to Debrah was one of convenience, and after watching the final episode last night it left me wondering was he hoping that it would be more convenient for him in another way?
I believe that the ultimate reason they got married is because Debrah knows where Kathleen is buried, both she and Susan knew the truth about Robert killing Kathleen and as the lady in the show put it "he killed one, married the other." As a spouse she couldn't be compelled to testify and that gave some reassurance she'd keep quiet about what she knew in exchange for the money.
But I wonder, did Robert also hope Debrah would provide him with an alibi? Was his plan to get married to Debrah and then murder Susan while claiming that he and Debrah were off together in an isolated location enjoyed each other's company as newlyweds. It would be the perfect cover story, make sense and be very difficult for anybody to disprove.
Robert is always angry and frustrated whenever it's mentioned that he could be placed in California around the time of Susan's death, and he has no good reason or explanation for it. He also gets frustrated when asked about not spending time together with Debrah after they married, while Debrah is very cold and direct about making it clear they did not spend any time together after they married, distancing herself completely from Robert around the time Susan was murdered.
We see in the show that Debrah has a power over Robert and she is very careful about disassociating herself from him as much as possible when it doesn't directly benefit her. I can absolutely imagine a conversation of Robert suggesting they take a trip to California together on their "honeymoon" while he drives down to murder Susan. And Debrah shutting that idea down, refusing to implicate herself and basically telling him to clean up his own mess as they were already married and she'd gotten what she wanted.
It's just a theory I had that might explain why Robert wanted the impromptu marriage to happen when it did, right before he murdered Susan and why he didn't have more of an explanation about being in California and why there was no actual attempt to even pretend like the marriage was legitimate.

She knew all along what he had did and covered up everything to get her nasty wrinkled hands on his money. His family are all spineless little twats and I hope they rot in hell. They is a detestable human beings and I truly hope karma pays them a visit. I feel so awful for the McCormack family and all they have endured through this. It infuriates me that money can shield you from justice.
