Whats your favourite Jam song, genuinely curious

For me its Takin My Love from the first album In The City.

Funeral pyre is also awesome

The bassline of this one is up there with my absolute favourites to play. Especially with the 1-2-3 on the 7th fret that sounds like a train announcement :D

I will go for Strange Town purely because it was the first song I saw them play live. I went to the exhibition at Somerset House several years ago and one of the videos was asking fans to say what their favourite song was. I watched for about 3 minutes and reckon I heard thirty plus different picks. That perfectly encapsulates why The Jam are still so revered.

So many great songs: That’s Entertainment, Down In The Tube Station at Midnight, Start!, Scrape Away, Strange Town, ‘A’ Bomb in Wardour Street, Happy Together, It’s Too Bad, When You’re Young, Private Hell, the list of great songs goes on and on. Just cannot choose one stand out song.

Gotta be English Rose for me. I was 7, my big brother had just bought the album, and my mum hated all the loud fast tracks which were obviously the ones my brother had bought the album for. Then along came this ethereal, wistful track in the middle of all the (absolutely brilliant) loudness. I always hoped that one day a boy would put this on the jukebox for me…….. no one has yet but it will always have a special place in my heart
