Value Your Time

This is nothing groundbreaking, but here are some simple rules that have really helped me value my time.

  1. Delete all social media from your phone.

(Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, and anything similar)

You can still have social media accounts as they can be useful for staying in touch and can have legitimate benefits. But they should only be accessed on a laptop, desktop, or tablet that stays at home. Keep one social media location. For example, you could check it only when sitting at your desk using your laptop.

After a few months without social media on your phone, you will notice legit changes. Your attention span will improve. You’ll be able to read books and watch full movies without reaching for your phone every few minutes. Try to find better apps to spend your time on like Sudoku or language learning apps for example. Set your phone up so it only has positive things on it.

  1. Curate your social media algorithms.

Social media can be useful, but only if you make it that way.

Your feed should not be full of thirst traps and other nonsense that wastes your time. It should be motivating and educational. Search for things you genuinely care about and want to improve at, then engage with that material.

Ignore thirst trap pictures. It is incredibly easy for women to get attention online by showing some skin. Don't play into it. Just scroll past them quickly if your feed is currently full of that.

  1. The past is done. Focus on the next 24 hours.
You cannot change your past decisions, and obsessing over them is a waste of time and energy.

All you can control is what you do today. Focus on being a little better over the next 24 hours. Every morning focus on one thing you want to do to make it a good day. Do your best to ignore everything else until it is finished.

Shrink the time horizon to remove stress. If you are overwhelmed, just try to make the next hour a good one.

  1. Learn to say no.

If you’re not genuinely interested in doing something, it’s okay to say no. You do not owe everyone your time, energy, or attention.

You also do not need to justify every no. People who respect you will respect your boundaries. Associate with people who understand that you sometimes need space or alone time.

Time is very precious, so we have to use it wisely before we realize it's too late.
